Decent Mexican Food

I ate here for a business lunch. Given the location, I wasn't expecting much. The exterior did not look promising either. I was skeptical. After walking through the door, I was pleasantly surprised! I ate here for a business lunch. Given the location, I wasn't expecting much. The exterior did not look promising either. I was skeptical. After walking through the door, I was pleasantly surprised! Looking forward to the new Miguel's restaurant opening at the end of March, personally. Abuelo's is inconsistent. Last night our server was given so many large groups while two servers nearby wandered amd managed their few tables of 1 or 2 people. Our waitress was not able to perform and was a frantic wreck, which meant we could not relax... More

One of our go-to places in Abilene. Nice open dining area with nice decor makes for a pleasant dining experience. Love those thin, crispy chips and some nice salsas, too. Hard not to fill up on those before the food arrives. Lunch menu available to seniors all day. Lately, we split one of the feast platters and usually still need... More

Pretty good for Tex/Mex on a large scale. The atmosphere was great on a very busy night and service was great. At the bar we were able to get advice in entrees and interesting drinks. A classy place. Our east coast company loved it.

When I think of good Mexican food I think authentic good hot food. Nothing all fancy and swirly drinks. Is there such a thing as fancy gourmet mexican food? Well they try and I don't care for it. The rich and snobby like it cause they don't know better. They would dare be seen in the actual good places.

This place is really nice. The service is top notch and the food is fresh and good. The prices are comparable to places that are not as good. This is a nice place to eat often.

I have been to this restaurant several times over a period of 5 years. The recipe for the taco shells changed and I was forewarned by family. I asked if I could get the tacos with the original shells and was told I could. I think they still gave me pre-packaged shells due to the busy time of the day.... More

I have come to decide that Jesus himself would eat here… I can't order anything but the Monterey… It's absolutely the best thing ever...The few times that I have strayed from my Monterey, everything has been absolutely out of this world!

This was our first time trying this restaurant chain & we enjoyed it. The queso is awesome! Steak was surprisingly good for a Mexican place. Fun vibe, loved the colors & little fountain. Service was meh.

8 family members met for lunch. Quick seating. We had a new waiter and he was nervous, but was conscious. Drink order was correct. Food was great and correct. A bit slow on chips but he was new. Bill was easy to read. Abuelos is always a bit noisy but a consistently good place to eat!
