Overnight Stay in Abilene

Stayed at a nearby hotel. Chose the Cracker Barrel as the food is consistent. The meals were very good and the fried chicken breast special was over the top. They were busy and the service was slow. The staff was still very nice.

When you have had all the junk food you can eat and just crave something else, come to Wal-Mart (behind the restaurant) and shop first until you are really hungry. Drive to the corner and join Cracker Barrel for lunch or dinner. Service and seating are very fast. The menu, while the same throughout the chain, is always fresh made... More

As you walk in, you are brought back in time. They offer a variety of products, replications of things gone by. As you stroll, you come to the restaurant. They serve generous portions of everything, breakfast or lunch!

My wife and I ate here on New Year's Day night. After being seated, it took about 20 minutes to be waited on. The waitstaff was very nice and apologetic. When we got our food it was excellent. Hot and great flavor.

The service is hit or miss, but the food always meets my expectations. Nothing fancy, just regular food like my mom would make. When I go for breakfast I always ask them to bring complimentary fresh biscuits, butter & jelly when they bring my drink & before they bring out my meal. Sometimes their service can be slow & the... This was near our hotel, so we had dinner here. The food was ok, but nothing to rave about. The young man who was our server was very friendly and provided great service.

We had a family full of 12 people that was definitely a challenge for the most seasoned staff but the server remained calm and worked her way through difficulties and pretty much a starving crew to provide us with an enjoyable meal. There was nothing exceptional about the meal and separating the check between family members was pretty horrible but... More

My wife and I ate breakfast at this restaurant because we are big fans of this restaurant chain. The waitstaff were polite and appeared to be on the ball. Apparently, the kitchen staff were not! This is the longest wait we have ever had at a Cracker Barrel. Then our oder was not cooked as we had asked. The couple... More

We went with family members and from the start things were not right. Half our party got served while the others waited and when their food did arrive it was cold. Un-believable. It wasn't very busy and management made excuses for everything. Not going back there.

Although it's a chain restaurant, you can almost always count on great, tasty, food. This visit was for breakfast after an all night drive. It was hot, delicious and a great way to get "refreshed ". We love stopping at Cracker Barrel and this one didn't disappoint.
