Growing up it was always fun to go to Burro Alley and have a great meal at Casa Herrera. One of the elements that made it special was the family that ran it. The person who posted about roaches and the terrible building surely has this restaurant confused with another. It couldn't possibly be Casa Herrera. I've eaten with them off and on for years and it's always very clean including the bathroom. That's one of the reasons I like to eat there. We order off the menu so I can't comment on... More

Our food was delicious and plentiful. Our tea glasses never hit empty nor did our complimentary chips and salsa. Give Casa Herrera a try and you'll leave pleased with the service and the food.

They had a buffet but we ordered off the menu. I lived in Abilene for quite a few years and this was a really great place to for Mexican food. The food was good this time - not great but not horrible. The service was slow. It was a convenient place to meet up with family before heading back home.

The person who said Casa Herrera is old and has roaches is untruthful. The building is well maintained, clean and remodeled almost yearly. The bathrooms are the cleanest and that reflects the back of the house. Food is excellent as most of the reviews state.

Service was only thing good. Food is bland. Building should be torn down. While the customer areas are ok. I gotta peek inside the kitchen area. Floor tiles missing w/moldy spots. Ceiling falling in. And yes, we saw roaches.

We chose to dine here due to close proximity to the hotel. Food was ok. Service was very good. We arrived shortly after they opened and were seated immediately. Prices are cheap and while I wouldn't make this a regular place to dine, I would return if in the area again.

I came in from out if town to attend a wedding event for a dear friend. We ended the ceremony and about 20 of us (adult women) had some time to grab a bite to eat. We ordered Margaritas and our food. After being there for about 30 minutes we were approached by Liz (the owner) who said we needed... More

Expect a long wait after church, but other than that no complaints. Good food, good price, friendly folks!

We were recently in the northwest, no where near any good mexican restaurants. Our first night back we were craving mexican food, aka tex-mex. So we went to Casa Herrera. The numbers 13 & 26 are our go tos. The Margaritas and sweet tea were refreshing, hadn't had those on our trip either. Always good food and great service to... More
