I Want it to be Better

I love Japanese food and I really hoped Mikado would be more. It looks great and has the bones to be good and authentic with the sit on the floor tables. It has a bit of an ident problem with a half Japanese and half Thai menu. I wish they would just stick to being one thing. The service is... read more

We were at Mikado Restaurant with friends. On the plus side, the food was good (not great) and the ambience lovely. But on the negative side: - A large group arrived just before us. The maître d’ sat them, and then did not return. We eventually found our friends already seated. - The Happy Hour menu consisted of several reasonably... More

I have probably been to Mikado over 1000 times. It is delicious and always SO FRESH! The tofu miso is the best I ever had and the spicy mexican roll and ardmore rolls are my favorite! Excellent for anyone...couples, friends, or family. Amazing service, too!

We have had sushi at some of the best sushi restaurants in the world but this little gem in Ardmore has the best sushi hands down. Thai the chef is very creative and talented and makes numerous special dishes every time we go. We eat there at least twice a week and my whole family chooses to go to Mikado... More

This restaurant is essentially two in one. You enter through a pretty traditional looking Japanese restaurant, with blond wood and low tables (with wells for legs, thankfully.) Moving into the Thai portion is pretty much like entering a dark tavern in Anytown, USA. It seemed like the same menu must be used for both rooms, and it is varied. I... More

This is a mash-up of Japanese and Thai cuisine, neither of which warrant going to unless you're really at a loss for someplace to eat. The two used to be "separate" restaurants and the food at both was pretty good. Now, the sushi rice is mushy and the pad thai noodles look microwaved (steaming hot and mushy) and are overly... More

The food is not fresh and not enough. The previous owners had better quality, more food and better selections.

Very good sushi, as well as Thai cuisine. The atmosphere is pleasant enough with good service.

So why is Sushi like goat cheese? Answer: When you are serving or ordering either one, everyone thinks you are cool and trendy. "Wow man...goat cheese... good old chevre, man". But try an experiment. Place the best goat cheese next to a good old noble cheddar or emmanthaler or a quarter of Gourmandise and see which cheese disappears faster. Similarly,... More
