Very good Food in Ardmore with BYOB

A very good restaurant with very good service. I was there between Christmas and New Years with my daughter who went to school at Haverford and lives in town so we know the area well. We have enjoyed dinner many times at A La Maison Bistro. There are many reasons why this is our favorite neighborhood place to go for dinner. The French cuisine is very good. Their menu is creative, broad and reasonably priced. We often choose their salmon which is cooked to perfection, and can be generous in its portion size. Their salads... More

If you are looking for genuine French, A LA Maison Bistro is your place. The atmosphere is quiet, the ambience muted and the food and service outstanding. We started with a three cheese appetizer including french bread, jams, and mustards. The entree selected was a trout and vegetables. ( I wanted to ask the chief how this was prepared.) The... More

Popular with locals and I have been there a few times. Casual atmosphere on main street. Menu and food preparation are 'bistroish", but not outstanding. Pate plate as starter is good, but pricey. Had disappointing fish -- very over cooked with average sides -- last visit. Others in group tried variety of dishes which were good, but not excellent. BYOB... More

It's hard to believe this little French Bistro is located on the Main Line in Ardmore. We've gone many times over the years and we always enjoy our visit. The setting is quaint. The staff is professional but fun-not at all stuffy. Each one of them-from the host to the water server to the waiters-makes every effort to try to... More

We've dined here twice, both times as part of a 'double-date' with another couple. This is a nice choice for a BYOB on the Main Line if you like French food without pretension. On the most recent outing I had lovely steak frites and was happily served a filet complete with Bearnaise. Is this the best restaurant on the Main... More

I have dined here twice with the same small group of friends and we thoroughly enjoyed both experiences. We have had the different types of pate (each has a personal favorite and recommend a selection; beef bourguignon, salmon, duck, cassoulet, etc. The waiters have been polite, interesting and extremely helpful. My friends bring the wine. So impressed have we been... More

We have been there 5 times over the past few years, because it is reminiscent of a real French bistro. The ambiance is delightful and the food well above average. Alas, the prices are also above average! The service staff is courteous and knowledgeable. If you bring a good wine to this BYOB, be sure to ask for large glasses... More

A La Maison was once a favorite place for my husband and I. We have been to this restaurant many times with friends on various occasions, however, I am sad to say that I will not step foot into A La Maison again. I will let all of my friends know of my horrible experience and response (or rather, lack... More

If you enjoy classical French cuisine, this is the place to go in the suburban Philadelphia area. The dishes were classically prepared and the taste was very close to what you would find in France, especially the frites. There are so many wonderful choices, including the specials of the day, that it's difficult to make a choice when ordering your... More
