If you love diner breakfast, this is the place for you. Definitely order the "mess!" Fresh cut home fries, eggs, meat, and cheese mixed into a pile of yummy! Third generation family place. We met mom and son today. Nickel jukeboxes still hang on the wall. Don't miss this experience!

I was recently in town for business and was recommended to check out Tom & Joe's for lunch as it is an original local business located in downtown Altoona. I was so pleasantly surprised as I entered and the hustle and bustle was taking place in this cool diner. Orders are being called out and folks just seem to be... More

Remember the table side juke boxes? This place has them and they still work!!! Our waitress, member of the family, granddaughter to Tom told us they have been there for 81 years. A lot of the help is related, and boy do they love working in their restaurant. Great place to eat a hearty breakfast. We smiled the whole time.... More

Not a better place for breakfast! It's not only great food with a welcoming atmosphere but you're sure to be entertained by the show behind the counter!

Tom & Joe's has been in operation for decades. An old time diner that is a must stop. Good food and sassy service at a good price.

Tom and Joe's has been a go-to place in Altoona for years. The interior is a step back in time, the staff is great, the food wonderful. The empty egg cartons stacked on the counter prove there is no egg mix used here. Food is freshly prepared, servings are generous. A visit to Tom and Joe's is a treat.

My wife and I ate at this restaurant on October 22, 2014. The restaurant is known for its very generous sized meals and modest prices. We were not disappointed. The restaurant is open until early afternoon most days and it is best known for breakfast fare. I would highly recommend eating here. We will certainly eat here again very soon.

A meal at Tom & Joe's gives a good taste of the flavor of Altoona. Nothing is pretentious. The food is simple, flavorful & a good value. I'm a big fan of the Mess. Definitely worth the trip for breakfast & the atmosphere.

I have not been to this restarant in more than 30 years. This diner has that old look with the music boxes at the table - three songs for a quarter. All the workers greeted everyone with a smile and many patrons appeared to be locals. I had two eggs, home fries, toast, and coffee while my husband had scrambled... More

Me and a friend went to Tom and Joes on a Sunday morning. The place was packed and the wait was about 15 minutes to be seated. I ordered beef slices in a white gravy more commonly known as S@#t on a shingle. I also ordered home fries and pancakes The wait for the food was not long...there was nothing... More
