The only reason I go is for this pizza. It is so good and not like any other pizza in town. The wings are good but they are not the main attraction for me.
The service is outstanding and the atmosphere is very relaxing. The menu contains a wide variety of chef prepared entrees and seasonal favorites. Our experience there has always been very enjoyable and we will continue to make the Altoona Hotel our choice in fine dining.
Ok, so I gave it yet another shot. The alternatives in this town are few if fast food is not your thing, and it isn't my thing. We ate at the bar. The starter salads and wine choices were good, but we were presented with awful house made bread. I got the 'flatbread' for my entree. I think they forgot... More
This is one of the few 'games in town' that aspires but consistently falls short. I have communicated with the owner on several occasions in the past, and he has been responsive. However, the food is so inconsistent and frequently just plain bad that I give up. The starter salad was good, but it came with stale bread. The burger,... More
We had a special family dinner on new Year's eve. It was fabulous. They had a special menu which appealed to all tastes. Everyone in our party enjoyed the food, special drinks and desserts. The servers were friendly and helpful. Even the children enjoyed the experience. The prices are a little high, but the visit was well worth it.
We ate here twice (October 8th and 11th) in small family groups and were very impressed with the level of service and food both times.
I ate dinner here with a group of people. Based on it's location, I was not expecting this type of restaurant. The exterior is unassuming, but it is quite charming inside. The menu has a great selection of very flavorful dishes. There is a great variety of food. I had mahi-mahi which was cooked very well. I started off with... More
The Altoona Hotel (which is really only a restaurant) wasn't the #1 rated restaurant in Altoona when I checked the TripAdvisor ratings, but the reviews convinced me it might be the best place in town to host a group of family members following a family reunion. I recommend it. I had a superb 6-mushroom soup and a chicken confit that... More
Run, don't walk to this gem of a restaurant. Fine dining in a residential neighborhood. Plain facade but nothing plain about the food and wine. Big city dining with an incredible wine selection. We spent a delightful evening and will definitely return next time we're in the area. My sisters loved the lighter (smaller) selections and the variety was impressive.... More
