If you wanted to experience what a British pub was like in the 1970s, then this would do it for you. British pubs have moved on, but this place has not. It needs a total re-think.

This is a nice big place with lots of room -- a great environment, with some fun decor and good window seats overlooking the plaza. We've probably gone there about 10 times over a 17 year time period--the food selection is fine (British pub food), but the service has always been a little too slow (greeting, bringing drinks, getting the... Music way too loud and bad attitude when asked to turn it down food nothing to write home about otherwise well located downtown but the upstairs location difficult for those of us with bad knees!

If you like British fare and atmosphere, this is the place for you! Being at the Black Sheep Pub is almost the next best thing to being back in the U.K.

It was my first night in Ashland, and I was intrigued by this place. I have been to Britain, and this place had a very authentic pub feel. So I went in, walked up the stairs, and had my first ever pasty, the Vegetable Pasty, which was so good.

I went here for dinner while waiting for a Shakespeare play. The menu was wonderful. There was a dartboard for entertainment, and it was a great place to relax before the play. They also have a weekly specials that would have been fun to see. First fridays they have ariel dancers, which would have been fun to see.

We went here to celebrate our sons birthday. Our food was excellent, and so was the service. I had chicken with Marion berry sauce on wild rice, my husband had a huge fish and chips, my son had bangers and mash, and his friend had steak and horseradish potatoes (gluten free) which we all really enjoyed. Our food was great,... More

I had the original Fish & Chips with green pease. The dipped fried cod fish is not the greatest, I prefer Claim Jumper's dipped in beer battered Fish. The green pease was fresh and delicious; the Chips was incredible, not the typical salted frence fries but glorified with some seasoning herb on them. Awesome Chips mate!!!

This was our last meal in Ashland and was one of the two or three best. The bison burger, with its lovely carmelized onions and buttered, toasted bun, was cooked exactly as ordered, and came with a very nice fresh green salad. Fish and chips were also quite good, even though they are the kind of greasy british style. Great... More

You climb the carpeted stairs to get to it. They stink of BO. You walk in, seat yourself by a nice window. The AC is on: lovely! But the table is sticky, and the carpet is filthy. Celtic music is live. I order a Pimm's cup. I've never had one but this was very sweet and I asked for a... More
