Cozy and Modern

Slightly out of the center of Ashland, but worth the long walk/short drive, the modern cuisine is worth a repeat visit. Staff are really into food and wine - just ask them any questions re the food and they answer knowledgeably.

We are locals and when we want to treat ourselves to something great, we have dinner here. The dining room is smallish and spare (I like the uncluttered look) but in summer there is a delightful outdoor patio. The food is always top notch. My favorite appetizer is the potato chip/brussel spout appetizer - I could make a meal of... More

Went to dinner last night with four others, and we were all underwhelmed by the food and the lack of attention from the wait staff. Parts of the meal were good, like the halibut...but the sides were not. The prices were very steep considering that the ingredients were NOT pricey....think lobster prices for a modest piece of white fish. It... More

We've been eyeing Coquina since it opened in 2010, and finally had a chance to try it out. Now we're sorry we didn't make it here earlier! The meal was exquisite. Fresh, local ingredients prepared with care and an eye to making the flavors sing. The heirloom tomato salad with burrata was the best we've had since Italy last year.... More

Reading the reviews and looking at their online menu, I wasn't sure this was where we ate. But, I checked the receipt and this was the restaurant we tried. The menu we ordered from is not the one online. Most of the dishes on the menu were Asian influenced, which is not to my liking. I would suggest walking by the... More

We hadn't been to Coquina in a few years...but decided to have dinner there during our latest visit to Ashland. So glad we did! The chef is so incredibly creative and her husband (the manager/waiter) was so delightful, we made a reservation for the next night as well. I recommend sitting out on their lovely patio if the weather permits.... More

This was our first time here and we thought it was excellent. The space was very attractive in a sleek modern way and the tables were nicely spaced. Service was attentive and prompt, which is essential in a theatre festival town. Starter drinks were great and well sized, none of that miniature drink stuff. The Blue Cheese Tart for my... More

Delightful flavor matches in the innovative dishes. Well trained waters, personable and knowledgeable. A carrot and pea sprout salad with wonderful dressing ... in fact, all the sauces were worth mopping up with the great focaccia. Delicious desserts and a stunning wine and after-dinner drink selection. Attentive to play-goers, and so not slow. We will definitely put this on our... More

Coquina is the only truly 5 star restaurant in Ashland. a few others have good food, but they do not have the creativity of the chef/owner of Coquina. The leek/quark/caviar wild mushroom custard appetizer was superb as were the duck and the very very unusual lasagna. We have had three meals at Coquina over the years. Two were excellent and... The food would have been enjoyable, but it was ruined as we had to keep an eye on the clock. We should have known it was going to be a problem when we ordered our wine and our meal; it took 15 minutes for the waiter to return with 2 glasses of wine. The waiter brought our check and our... More
