Lovely and extravagant

I have been here twice. the food is very good, but it is very expensive. if you have a lot of $$ and want a splurge... this is the place to go. a minus is that the dining room is very noisy and it is hard to have a conversation. in the warm weather the back patio is very pleasant.... read more

I wasn't impressed with my experience dining at Coquina last week. First, it was really overpriced for the quality. With entrees from $35 to $42, my husband & I decided to order only a main course and glass of wine. My halibut was very good, yet nothing spectacular (it could have used more sauce for example). The duck my husband... More

Arrived after a long travel day! Enjoyed fabulous food and wine on the patio. The menu is as 'complex' or as 'simple' as you prefer and the service and ambiance were excellent. One of the best dining experiences this year! And on the list for a return visit.

The food was delicious, but very expensive...even by Bay Area standards let alone Ashlands. The beet salad was superb: the scallops were very good but a little sparse.

Visually, Coquina is a fairly low key establishment with a menu that is on the fine dining side (i.e., small portions, large prices). All of the food was very good, with some better than others. The signature dish of Gnocchi Bolognese was outstanding, while the scallop dish was average, at best. We were waited on by the owner and overall... More

We enjoyed a romantic Saturday night at Coquina. Although we made a reservation, the restaurant was not crowded, and we had a choice of tables in the enclosed courtyard. We were served by a combination of staff, but the co-owner, Daniel, became our main server. Due to some dietary restrictions including gluten intolerance, we were concerned about what we could... We were led to Coquina by referrals from locals and very positive reviews from a number of sources, and we are so glad we went. The menu is interesting, the food is spectacular, and the prices quite reasonable for the quality. The setting is charming and an easy walk to the Shakespeare Theaters. The fried Brussel Sprouts and homemade potato... More

Why did we wait for 3 years to visit Coquina? There are many very good restaurants in Ashland, but this is a great one, a world-class cuisine artfully and thoughtfully prepared and presented. The chilled asparagus with crab soup was probably one of the best bites ever -- superb texture, layers of flavor, and simply sublime. I would go to... More

We have eaten there a number of times. The food is generally excellent and the service has always been slow. Since many of the customers are going to evening plays, they should have figured out that if they want to sell you a dessert, they ought to more things along. We got there when it opened and still had to... More

Ashland theatre-goers are in for a treat if they seek out Coquina, a somewhat upscale restaurant a few blocks from downtown. Everything is delicious. The ingredients don't seem all that extraordinary but the menu offerings are fresh and unexpected. The preparation is impeccable. We ordered only starters even though the mains also looked really good. For example, carrots were prepared... More
