They bill themselves as "meat-centric," and that's no lie. I had a marvelous well-smoked fork-tender brisket, and the whole meal was superb from starters to dessert. Incredibly warm and friendly service from (I assume) the owner, and the place just had a great vibe.

Wife and I dined prior to theater last week and were underwhelmed. Mediocre service typical of Ashland. Ordered a grilled romaine salad to share and the server arrived with the salad on a single plate and was surprised when we asked for another plate so we could divide the salad. It seemed she expected us to use the bread plate(s)... More

Great casual steakhouse ambiance, with a great menu. Unfortunately, if you are going to charge those prices for steak, the guys on the grill need to know how achieve the temperature you request. They didn't. Hits all the superficial trendy bells and whistles of a modern meat restaurant, but needs some gravitas in the kitchen to match even middle-of-the-road steakhouses... More

Visited on a Sunday evening at 8 PM to avoid the pre-theatre crowd. Based on previous reviews, had our hearts set on some of the specials - bone marrow, pork belly, lamb porterhouse, etc. Due to the Sunday brunch, all were sold out. Given the design of the principal dining space, yes, it is noisy, and as the autumn progresses... More

helpful and amusing wait staff, clean and contemporary surroundings with a nice view out the window. Loved the chalkboard wall with all the information on meat cuts, etc. Went with 5 others, all were pleased with the flavors and presentation of their dinners. Only glitch was that one person's order had not been put in, so she had to wait... More

Best real food I've had in a long time! This is a restaurant for meat lovers. The waiter told us that all meat is sources with 100 miles of Ashland and is all organic. Everything was fresh and flavorful. Items from steak tartar that was fresh and bone marrow that was delectable. Lamb steak, pork belly duck confit were all... More

I live in Ashland, but had not been to Smithfields in a very long time. I particularly enjoyed the outside seating, and the very attentive (though not cloying) wait staff. I also appreciated the "team" approach to service: a primary server, but other wait staff would check water glasses, serve beverages, etc. The food, too, was great as well as... More

Billed as "Meatcentric,," Smithfield's really has something for everyone. Since opening in 2011 it has been undergoing a physical transformation (including a lovely outdoor garden dining area for al fresco meals when the weather permits). The chef-owner has several times been chosen as Oregon Iron Chef and deservedly so. Co-owner Dee manages the table service so that every table is... More

Welcome carnivores! A great place for meat lovers. Leave your vegetarian friends at home or seat them alone in a corner. The bar scene provides energy to the dinning area...you feel like you are in an old time bar/dinning area. The OSF folks hang a the bar...eating and drinking. The Friday night we visited we saw three leads enjoying dinner... More

Great server, really knew the menu, picked up on us, and what we might like. We forget what a huge difference this makes. Advertised as "Meat Centric." Sat outside, very hot evening, sun in our eyes, he moved umbrellas, shifted our table and chairs, and made us comfortable. Please start with the bacon beignets. The wait staff attire is a... More
