I go here with my friend every now and then and have had great service. When I first moved here, it seemed a bit on the dirty side in the restaurant, but they have since cleaned it up and I have not had a bad steak there yet! Service is really good also.

Fred's is known for their great steaks and catfish. There were several of us at dinner, and we had those items and a few more! I can speak for the steak. It was fantastic! Small sirloin, but plenty of it. great flavor, and served with potato choice and salad. Delicious. Can't complain about the length of time to serve us... More

I visited Fred's for the first time yesterday evening. I ordered the chicken tenders with sweet potato fries (which the waitress said cost extra as a side, even though the menu lists them normally with all the other sides and no mention of extra cost). Before I was even back home (a 30 min drive), my stomach was turning. I... More

Nothing outstanding, cheap décor, ho hum food. Beware of the steaks, not choice cuts. Not any good steak places in Altus.

We stopped for a drink on Sunday only to find the only thing available was 3.2 beer. Since we were there looked over the menu and settled on the hamburgers. They were quite good and the fries were fresh. The young lady taking care of us was very pleasant and did her best. There seemed to be a lot of... More

Food was a great value. I had the sirloin steak and it was perfect. Dinner for 4 adults, no alcohol, and 2 desserts was $46. Coming from NYC to visit my son at the Base, I was disappointed with the shy nature of most Okies. Our waitress was very sociable.

Let face it, the choices in Altus is limited, especially if you do not want fast food chain food. This was our first visit to Altus and we were trying different restaurants while in town. They had a ham dinner special which my wife really enjoyed. It was actually a nice thick cut of ham. I had Fred's famous BBQ... More

Chicken fried steak is a country eating classic ruined by cheap breading and low grade meat. This place is overpriced for the quality of the service and food received. The food is as edible as a typical airplane meal and leaves you questioning yourself afterwards if it was worth it. Just drink a Dr. Pepper or something and skip the... More

We occasionally go there. The staff is young and not very friendly. They are there because they need a job. The food is just average nothing special about it. They are known for the chicken fried steak for $4.
