My favorite Mexican restaurant of all time. When I go for a weekend visit, I always stop at Casa Nueva for breakfast and dinner. Without fail, their margaritas are delicious and carry away all of my stress with just a few sips. The only think I don't like is the wait. It is a very popular restaurant.

CASA Nueva is a legend. The food is the standard for Mexican in Athens. Everyone is friendly and the restaurant is where people, when they return to Athens, must eat.

We come here every time we are in Athens. Not much to look at but the food and margaritas are worth it. Very tasty, fresh, local ingredients and the best tortilla chips I've ever had. Extremely unique menu items – not your everyday Mexican food.

Everyone in town talks this place up and after trying it twice, I won't be returning. The food quality was good, not very good, not exceptional. The price for that food, very high, too high. Some say "oh, but there's no tipping, so it's cheaper". The tips are already baked in to the price of the food and drinks and... More

Our meal was among the first to be served at dinner service. First thing we noticed is the odor of mild or mildew. Second, we learned that servers no longer work for gratuities, and it seems the result of that is the sever has NO motivation to do his/her job well. My food was absolutely the worst I've had in... This is hands down one of my favorite restaurants in Athens. Whenever possible they use fresh, local ingredients and it shows through in the food. Casa would rather temporarily remove something from the menu than use sub-standard ingredients. The restaurant and cantina has a very creative and tasty cocktail menu featuring in-house infused spirits and fresh mixers. This is a... More

We had a very long wait to be seated, but I was not disappointed with the food. A nice atmosphere for the older crowd. Very good margaritas. The tips are donated to a local charity which is a nice touch but somewhat explains the slow service.

We started coming here late in our college career, and just returned two nights in a row during our 20th reunion trip. I love that Casa aims to serve locally grown ingredients ... and it's a GREAT spot for vegetarians. The fact that all tips get donated is one of those lovely elements that makes this feel so Athens. We... More

I have been going to Casa for 30+ years. Here's what it is: it is a social gathering place catering to long-time townies and the older college crowd; with good drinks, fresh but uninteresting food, terrible service (rude and downright ignorant waitstaff and managers) and the most unorganized billing you will ever experience. They operate in a niche that they... More

much better than typical Mexican food. I loved the unusual filling choices for my quesadilla. - roasted radishes, nice crispy touch- their seasonal menu offerings are great too. One of us had the Mexican Meatballs over rice - he said it was yummy! I love that this place doesn't just drown food in lots of cheese, refried beans and cheap... More
