Good food with interesting menu

The wait staff and kitchen provided a good experience. In a town geared for bar food and pizza this is a good alternative with an interesting flair. It tries to connect with the local growers and producers. It is worth a return visit!

We were in the Athens area recently visiting our Nephew who attended Ohio University. We stayed a couple of days, so at his suggestion, we tried Zoe's for dinner. Several of us had the Irish Stew which was the nightly special. The stew was delicious, served with mashed potatoes and cabbage, with homemade soda bread on the side. Our Nephew... More

This place was recommended to us by someone who was on a horseback ride with us in Vinton County. My wife and I have never been to Athens before and were looking for a side trip from the Hocking Hills. The parking was a bit of an issue, but once inside the experience was very good. Great décor with a... More

After reading the reviews I accepted an invitation to dine here. But one look at the menu I was not impressed and now see why I could not find a menu online. The menu is nothing special and not very gourmet. The presentation was average and the food was nothing special in fact I thought any first year culinary student... More

Dined here to celebrate son's graduation from OU. Slow unfriendly service; loud atmosphere; small wine pours; ok food in small portions; had few options for our vegan family members. They come around and give you a tiny piece of bread - basic normal small piece - and act like it is a delicacy. No oil to dip in. Disappointing experience... More

We took some friends to Zoe in late April, 2015. We had never been there, so we were eager to see what it was like. Noisy, that's what. The noise level was unbelievable--it was impossible to carry on a conversation without shouting. The service was just OK. The food was unimaginative. I had shrimp carbonara, a special that night. There... More

I love Zoe- their prices are quite reasonable for the delicious, eclectic fare served. They have seasonal, unique food and a fully stocked bar. I am never disappointed when I visit.

What you get at Zoe would cost about $50 a plate in NYC but here it is under $20. The menu is pretty straight forward, I recommend the flank steak or whatever fish special the chef has cooked up. The bar is outstanding, really good martinis and a solid wine list. Service is swift and friendly. You will not go... More

My wife, son, and his girl friend had a very enjoyable dinner. We had tried two other restaurants that were close so it was our third choice. The food was very good. I had the special Lake Erie walleye that was excellent. The waitress was attentive and friendly. We didn't have a reservation but they said that someone had cancelled... More

first the plus factors😍: good chef, creative presentations of routine dishes, salmon, sole, chicken, scallops (albeit slightly raw, undercooked, in a nice reduction)...selections unimaginitive, but tasty. The atmosphere is really poor. The frat-house noise level is so high, you must essentially scream your order to the waitress...nice staff though, doing as well as possible. I can't understate the noise level... More
