Description: Stricklands(R) Frozen Custard was founded in 1936 by Bill and Florence...
Stricklands(R) Frozen Custard was founded in 1936 by Bill and Florence Strickland. During his years as an Akron Pure Milk employee, Bill developed his own rich recipe of cream, eggs, sugar and other ingredients. With his formula perfected, Bill turned his attention to developing an ice cream machine (called a "batch freezer") that would quickly freeze the ice cream, while limiting the air whipped into the product. The result is Stricklands' award-winning ice cream and frozen custard. Bill and Florence built the first Stricklands Frozen Custard stand on Triplett Avenue in Akron, Ohio, and the Stricklands' legend was born. The original ice cream store is still in operation today (and so are the original batch freezers!), Run by the third generation of the Strickland family, and serving the same fantastic ice cream and frozen custard that made Stricklands a local landmark.

Best Custard in Town!

I have been coming to Strickland's since I was a kid and I never get tired of it! Best custard in town! Best flavors are: Black Raspberry, Banana, Chocolate Almond... Try it! You won't be sorry!

Great place for custard. try one of the flavors of the day - Dulche de Leche, Mocha Chunk, Rocky Road, & Black Raspberry Chunk are some of my favorites, if not the vanilla is also great.

20 years later and a wonderful welcome home!! We came for the All American Soap Box Derby, and this is the ONLY place to get great homemade custard. Todays flavor was grape and my all time favorite! Make sure to also get photos of the airdock, Derby downs, and the defunct rubber bowl.

Maple has always been my favorite. Been living in Akron and frequenting Strickland's for over 40 years. They are slowly raising prices, and the quality is poorer than ever. The maple tasted like plain vanilla. When we asked if they gave us vanilla by mistake, the manager tried it out of their machine and said it tasted fine to him.... More

Stricklands has been one of my family's favorite for over 10 years. The flavors are outstanding and there are so many to pick from. The wait however, takes at least 10 minutes or more for 1 scoop! This was disappointing but compared to some other ice cream stores, this is definitely one of the best!

This is a legend in Akron, Ohio. I have family that moved away years ago. When they return home for a visit, Strickland's is a must have. The banana is my favorite!

Strickland's is an Akron landmark. Nothing says summer like enjoying a cone on a muggy night. Be sure to check online because their flavors change. Vanilla and chocolate are consistent, but otherwise the flavors change.

A trip back to our old home town. This means visiting many places we enjoyed while living there Stricklands was a favorite evening outing. We always try to stop there when we are in the area. We feel it is the best frozen custard anywhere. On this past trip we were able to get there twice out of the three... More

It is just not summer until your first trip to Stricklands for there creamy cold ice cream. From plain vanilla to rainbow sherbert to the special flavors of the day. Never been disappointed. Now they have franchised with year round stores, it is best to go to the original by the circle and watch plans takeoff and land. The best... More

Growing up in Akron, stricklands was a staple in the summertime. love the flavor selections. Needs more seating but was worth it while on vacation from Virginia.
