Good food, casual decor, arrive early to beat the larger parties. If you can't eat crab, there are other choices to be had, but this is definitely the place to go for crustaceans!

The Mad Crabber used to be the go-to place for our visits to Avon, both for great food and great service. The food quality has really fallen off in the last few years - but the prices have gone up. Crablegs were waterlogged and mushy, rice was crunchy on this visit. All the fried items tasted like the fry oil... More

The Mad Crabber was very good. Casual restaurant which has picnic table seating. Food served on paper plates but great seafood and cold beer which is perfect for the beach!

We ate at The Mad Crabber last week. It's 1st come 1st served, so be prepared for a wait especially if you have a larger group - picnic table style seating... We had a party of 9, so we entertained each other while we were waiting. Fun and festive atmosphere: The walls of the restaurant are lined with fellow diners'... More

Just had dinner at the Mad Crabber. They were slammed, but all staffers were pleasant & attentive. I had the crab bisque which was good. I'm from Maryland, so I was expecting blue crab. It was made with king crab legs. I also ordered the fish tacos. Very good! I could only eat 1/2 of the order. It came with... More

We went for dinner here while on a family vacation. The first night was fantastic. It was busy and loud, & despite our server (Tina) running around she really took care of us. Food was fantastic & she took the time to chat with us & make sure everything was great. We had such a nice time that we decided... More

Everything is expensive at the Outer Banks and this restaurant was upper middle cost of the pack. Good service for a Friday evening about 7:30. Beer draft was cold! After ordering, it took about 15-20 mins. for our mad crabber platters to arrive. Can't complain about the food or service.....just not what I'm used to paying for a nice dinner.

The feast for 2 is awesome. A great way to try everything. I could without the crawfish but I never asked if we could swap them for something else.

This was our second time eating here during our week's vacation. Our party of 8 was seated quickly and our food was great. 3 of us had crab legs and the children's menu had them too for a very reasonable price and a large portion which made us all happy. Great selection of draft beers on tap and kid friendly... More
