A hearty meal

Like a full English breakfast, a German dinner is a hearty meal. My "special" sampled 4 of the main entrees accompanied by all 5 sides. A satisfying meal accompanied by a good German beer. Try it at least once.

We ate lunch on a Friday afternoon. We were able to sit on the patio. We had seen that it was quite packed on the evenings, but lunch...not so much. I had a phenomenal Ruben sandwich and my husband had great German plate of pork schnitzel, red cabbage and potato salad. Great selection of German beers. Would like to try... More

The Black Forest restaurant is in a wonderful structure, but the meals disappointed. Although the portions are ample and the cost modest, the flavors were lacking.

Hello Joseph L, We are happy to hear that you had so many positive sentiments to say about our establishment! However, we understand how imperative it is to offer all customers tasty, high quality food. That being said, we do create and prepare dishes only with the finest, freshest ingredients available and all dishes are made in house to order.... More

My family and I came here for lunch on Father's Day. We were uninformed of a few things that would have changed our visit. We called the day before to make a reservation and mentioned we had 2 kids and needed a highchair. We were never told there wasn't a child's menu available. Since the menu is catered to adults... Our 22nd Anniversary Dinner was so very scrumptious! We have been trying German Restaurants out - across the State of North Carolina and so far the Black Forest wins in our book! The staff were very friendly - informative and service was quick without seeming to be rushed. The food omg scrumptious!!! We each had the sampler platter - a... More

It's been a long time since I have had such great German food. The red cabbage was even better then when I make it! Really nice atmosphere, reminded me very much of home. A very cozy bar too. The server was very friendly and attentive. No rushing us to leave. All in all a wonderful dining experience. Highly recommended!

There was a traffic wreck so it was hard to get there other than that the sample platter was what I like because no one in my family will cook krout.

All the classics that you've come to expect from a fine German restaurant are now available in Hendersonville, NC. 1/2 block off Main Street, in a quaint, two-story setting with lots of old wood and stained glass. My "go-to" favorite here is the veal Jaegerschnitzel with chef made spaetzle and kartoffel salat. Service was friendly and attentive. Free parking directly... More

She looks a little past her prime, but the food and service was superb! The server was knowledgeable and had just the right level of interaction. I despise it when the waitstaff is trained to be my friend. The spaetzle was perfect - that's the litmus test! The selection of beers is terrific, and again, our waiter was quite versed... More

Enjoyed this restaurant very much. We were from out of town and drove passed during our vacation and put it on the "list" to do before we left Asheville. The staff was very courteous and they even brought a carafe of diet coke .. so they scored big on that. They serve German food and Italian -- we picked Italian... More
