Terrific lunch

We decided to eat at this location since there was easily an hour wait at the River Arts District location. The food was terric. My husband had the Blueberry Chipotle ribs with baked beans and mac and cheese. I had the pulled pork plate with mashed sweet potato and jalapeño cheese grits. They had... read more

This is an unattractive building with the best bar-B-Q in the area. I usually purchase ribs, a pound of pulled pork, Mac and cheese, collard greens, vinegar slaw, and 2 orders of ribs. They give a varied choice of sauces so we get several. Everyone enjoys the food and you cannot beat the food. Our favorite when we want excellent... More

I have always been a great fan of 12 Bones on my periodic visits to Asheville and not aware of Moe’s until I read a Trip Advisor review. So I give a side by side lunch time comparison, one day apart. The meat is excellent at each: the pulled pork of Moe’s and the ribs (Nekked) at 12 Bones are... More

When we tried to go to the River Arts location for lunch, it was an absolute mob scene, so we gave up completely. Yet, we were still determined to try 12 Bones, so heading east outside of town, we went to this location, and it was great all around. The food actually lives up to the hype, and the gas... More

This place is off of Sweeten Creek Road, not to be confused with the chaotic one in North Asheville. And while it's enormously popular, you can actually go to a separate entrance for takeout only, order & receive takeout in about 10 minutes & be on your way (or stand in line to order & wait for a table). Surely... More

The sides are as good as the entree. Obama likes to get to-go from 12 Bones when he is in town. There are communities known for their BBQ, but you won't know Bbq until you try 12 Bones.

We stumbled upon 12 Bones Smokehouse looking for Carolina BBQ when we were getting hungry on our ride up to Asheville. Quick service at the counter, and plenty of choices to keep you wondering what to order. We went with two different platters, one pork ribs with the sweet rub, the other brisket. Now I know ordering brisket outside of... More

The food at 12 Bones is some of the best barbecue in WNC, plus the amazing BLTs made with fried green tomatoes. All of the beer on tap is local. Staff is friendly and helpful. They close the dining room at 4 pm, but keep their carry-out open until 6.

Family in the area said we MUST go to 12 Bones. The food was not bad, but unfortunately, not something I'd go out of my way for. Good variety of meats, sauces. & sides. Got the sampler platter and felt like I had given it a fair try. To each his own. You might love it, so don't be afraid... More

A friend had recommended the 12 Bones in Asheville, but they are only open for lunch. So we drove about 15 minutes to this location where there is only take-out in the evening. It was great - wonderful selection of sides. The food was fresh and hot. The meat was moist, flavorful and not buried in sauce. Mac 'n cheese... More
