My wife, who is from Ankara, introduced me to Kebap 49 some years ago, and since then it is a regular stop for me everytime in I am in Ankara. Yes it is close to traffic and in a very busy location, but somehow I am not bothered by that even in their nice outside seating area. They have a... More

Very limited menu. But they do an ok job of making Turkish pitas. The restaurant is really huge and they have a good size patio.

An excellent kebap place that is located adjacent to Tunali Hilmi Caddesi (street) which is loaded with cafes and shops. Cannot miss the place (just look for a huge neon “49” on the building). Recommendation: try pide (aka Turkish pizza) of your choice.

This place has been my favorite open “pide” place since childhood and their standard has never been declined. I always order half minted meat half kasar cheese pide. Side salad comes with the order free of charge and drinking ayran (yoghurt drink) with pide is recommended. As the place is located in a very busy traffic tense neighborhood it has... More

Kebab 49 was founded in 1949, hence the name. It is the quintessential Ankara institution. They do not just slavishly copy the kebabs from the south, but bring their own interpretation into the meal, serving something more palatable to the urbanite luncheon and dining crowd, business and family alike.

I like to serve the lentil soup with yogurt because the lentil soup is spice and I always mix the soup with yogurt together. The french fries and Kabab are so tasty.

Kebap 49 is right next to Tunali Cadeesi which is one of the most crowded and interesting streets in Ankara. Either for lunch or dinner, the simple but delicious traditional turkish food is definetely worth a visit. I recommend all kinds of pide and the Kebap with yogurt and tomato sauce served on turkish bread.

Very tasty food, one of the standards for people who want a fairly quick high quality lunch - business or pleasure - at a low price
