Not worth the price

Recently I went to eat at the Dampa seafood restaurants in Pasay. As soon as you arrive you are rushed buy dozens of vendors trying to sell and offer you the best price, which is not a good price because they think they can rip off foreigners. After my pre-natal check-up, we just accidentally passed by Dampa sa Timog. We gave it a try since I've been craving for some "sinigang na hipon" (I was 4 mos. pregnant then). The place was crowded with unwinding people. There are a lot of seafood. So, ofcourse we ordered sinigang na hipon and inihaw na liempo. The sinigang was more... More

We were waiting a LONG time foe some of our food and in the mean time the restaurant fille dup with Chinese and Koreans, at which point we were forgotten! I had brought spices from South Africa to make a... More

We visited Dampa sa Timog during our most recent trip to the Philippines in April 2013 and it was Excellent! First of all you have to go to the seafood Market and buy all the seafood you want to eat (Crabs, Prawns, Shrimp, Variety of Fish, Shell Fish such as Oysters and Clams). You pay for the fresh seafood separately... More

Whenever I go to Manila, I see to it that I visit a new place to dine. With the wide variety of choices to choose from, I will always choose fresh foods like seafood. I checked on reviews and I read about the best seafood in town, I stumbled upon an interesting place and it is Dampa sa Timog. I... More

The Dampa is an amazing fish market with almost everything you can think of available - AND FRESH! You choose your fish, then take it to the Hong Kong Chefs Restaurant and simply tell the chefs how you would like it prepared. My favorite is sweet and sour...prawns and calamari... I plan my itinerary just so that I can spend... More

Liempo, lechon kawali, buttered chicken, chopsuey, pinaputok na tilapia, pancit, buttered tahong. Name it they've got it - at really affordable price. Not your typical turo-turo food, Classy but really, really affordable. What makes it more pinoy is eating along the road. :)

How novel, walking through the market, choosing your fish, crabs, prawns etc then askign them to cook it any Philopino style you want. Food then gets brought to your table. eatign area is not fancy, but it all adds tot he atmosphere. I totally enjoyed it.

What works with the dampa concept is that you get to see how fresh the food is since you will actually buy the food in the wet market area of the dampa. To be honest though, this is not the fanciest place, the dining area uses monoblock tables and chairs. However, the food is wonderful :) Especially the crabs! More... More

Home-made tasting Filipino food that you can have anywhere else actually (sinigang, inihaw na liempo, steamed stuffed pusit are just a few I can remember), but everything's cheap, like one dish feeds three people. Lol. You can also have a few drinks like local beers. Nothing extraordinary, but Filipino food is given justice. They're open even after midnight, so people... More
