Happy to Get Another Bite of My Favorite Siopao

After hearing mass at the Quiapo Church I was craving for my favorite special siopao at Ma Mon Luk Restaurant. There were some buildings under renovation along Quezon Boulevard so I didn't find the restaurant right away. I was thinking maybe they have moved out or closed shop but when I inquired... read more

Unclean place. Rude staff. Poor customer service. We visited this restaurant 2 weeks ago because it's been a while since the last time I tasted their mami and siopao. We arrived around 9 pm thinking that since it's past dinner time there would be less people. True enough, there were still people eating but a lot of tables were already... More

Ma Mon Luk has been around for generations and as far as I know, their food still tastes the same. That being said, their Original Mami is to die for. It's the reason why people keep coming back. Also, it's been a part of Manila's food scene since the 1930s. It's an institution. The secret to this restaurant's success is... More

It was my first time to visit this restaurant, i was so excited to try the food because of the recommendations but i was so dissapointed, the restaurants was so messy ang daming maduming tables, tissues on the floor, we sat at the corner table and ask the crew to clean it up but the towel rug he's using was... I was introduced to siopao and mami at this restaurant when I was still a kid. Mami was first discovered here (so they say). My family used to visit this place after hearing Sunday Mass at the Quiapo Church. During my college years at the University Belt I have to pass by this restaurant on my way home from school... ever since my husband introduced me to this place, we always see to it that we visit the restaurant whenever we pass by quiapo. Kids nowadays would be craving for fast food but foodies, like us, crave for the authenticity of the ambiance, the mami and the humongous siopao of ma mon luk.

The restaurant has not modernized, still having that old Chinese tea house look with ceiling fans and no airconditioning. But the Siopao is still the same as it was 25 years ago when i started eating in this place. And to think that this is the original home of the Mami makes it more special. Just the smell of the...
