Enjoyable Japanese food, with a price to match

Visited Zipangu when we were staying at the Shangri-la in KL. The restaurant is located on the second floor of the hotel. As you enter you will pass by an impressive wine display before arriving at an open kitchen consisting of various stations - sashimi, tempura, teppanyaki. As is the norm in most... read more

A very nice Japanese restaurant in terms of 'decor' and ambience. Serve superb Japanese food as well. Zipangu is in a different leaque, high class Jap. fine dining ! Unless you're a Maybank Elite credit card holder ... it is a little pricey ...though ?

Zipangu used to be among the top japanese restaurant in kl. Quality has gone down the road in my recent visit. Nothing taste right. Another case of lousy quality upkeep.

I am not much of a sushi fan but Zipangu helped me to at least learn to respect the art of sushi! Do checkout the walk-in wine cellar! My companions (who were sushi fans) told me that it was one of the best! I'll go by their opinion as I've no opinion when it comes to sushi!

The Zipangu at the Shangri La hotel in Kuala Lumpur offers very authentic and tasteful Japanese food. The quality of the Sushi and the Sashimi is always very good and fresh. During lunch the restaurant offers always a very good lunch menu for 80rm.

dinner at Zipangu was a treat. The food was cooked to perfection and the staff was really helpful and courteous. I like the ambience which is relaxing and spacious. The Garlic rice was good but I expected better, so it was 'okay'. The grilled mackerel was really good. All in all it was a pleasant dining experience.

My view is that this is a great place to eat Japanese food. The décor is very authentic and there is plenty of space. Good menu choices without being overwhelmed, and the food comes along very well presented. And its freshly made with fresh, quality produce - if you sit up at the sushi bar area you can watch a... Really lovely Japanese restaurant in Shangri-la Hotel. The food was very good. Only thing that could be improved is bringing the courses in the right order. We had to ask for one of the starters to be brought to the table as it was missing. Other than that - a great meal

Yes, I would agree with TA writer the food was lacking though the decor was very Japanese. Have been here with friends, family & business associates. A great place to talk & wile away the time.
