A step back in time

Happened to come across this restaurant by chance, truly a step back in time to the KL of old. Friendly, chatty staff, excellent service, delicious food and just a unique experience, all in all a place I hope to come back to if in KL again. It is one of the best restaurants in Chinatown. I'm grateful to the Lonely Planet to have made me discover this place ! Food is always delicious, the staff is very nice and it's not overpriced (usually around 35 ringgits for a main and a drink). I recommand the Black Pepper Beef (22.9 ringgits), which is my favorite, with a... More

My wife, daughter and I visited this restaurant on the 8th August 2015 after having read the reviews on Tripadvisor. We ordered sizzling beef, prawns, fish and rice. I had two glasses of red wine. The bill came to 177 MR. The food was very bland. after dinner we requested the waiter to call a cab and gave the mobile... More

I'm coming from Italy, we really don't know the real Chinese taste. We took very different things, everything was good in a very typical place.. It is a little restaurant, book in advance.

Following the advice of a famous guide we reached this restaurant, in an area where probably we wouldn't have dared to venture at night... The place is very nice and full of character, it's an immersion in what should have been the old time... don't expect a/c or modern furniture, that's a very different experience. Food is very good and... More

Excellent food served in an interesting setting. Some of the best Chinese style food I have ever eaten. I won't recommend a particular dish as different consumers have different tastes, but all the dishes I saw looked great. Beer on tap and wine also available. Opened at 11:30 not 11:00 as advertised. Got very busy on a mid week lunchtime... More

First time visiting even live here all my life. Thanks to TA. Worth the visit. The restaurant is quirky, old and ancient. Had Top Hats, Lobak and Ju hu Char....all very nice indeed. Liking the chilli and balacan dip. Much better than little penang chain. Nasi Lemak here serve with blue-ish rice (butterfly pea flower). Kapitan chicken curry is mild,... More

Make sure you check the restaurant's website for accurate address and direction. When you enter the restaurant you are immediately taken into an old world with its charm and simplicity.from the dim lighting, a refuge from the bright sun oitside, to the old chinese music, to the pictures on the wall, this is a modernesque interpretation of peranakan eatery of...
