While this place is a favorite amongst foreigners living in Japan as the food is good, the price decent and the atmosphere rocks, the staff can be quite rude when it comes to paying. They demand that the payment for everyone would be given together instead of each person paying for their meals separately as is often welcome everywhere else...

I have been coming to this dark little oasis for about three years. Shredded pork soft tacos and a frozen margarita. They rarely disappoint. Happy hour from noon to five, so I usually pay about 1,000 yen. If your drink isn't strong enough, they gladly fix it, when you ask politely. Nice wait staff and classic Mariachi music.
This is a small and funky little place (make reservations if going at night). A bit of an institution in Shinsaibashi. I liked how they included Kabocha pumpkin with my meal alongside the more standard fare (beans, guacamole, tomatoes, etc.).

Really good restauraunt for an out of towner coming into the big city looking for a little civilisation. Very hard to fault almost anything about it, service, location, food, atmosphere and cocktails with legs. Theres also live music and a cool cave-like feel to the place. The only downside is that becaue of its location, it's on the expensive side...

I first discovered El Pancho in 2004 and have been visiting ever since, and I have made a dozen visits so far. Never have I been disappointed with food or service. This was my first visit in many years and I'm glad to see not a thing has changed, even right down to the great (and long) happy hour.
