Kinryuramen is a chain in Osaka. I was enticed because of the huge dragon structure protruding from its stand. The ramen is cheap... but alas, it really sucks...
As a ramen fan, I had to try Kinryu ramen, this ultra-famous ramen restaurant easily recognizable by its large dragon sign. The most famous restaurant of this chain is probably this one in Dotomburi, where you can eat on raised tatami platforms. Choice is reduced to the essentials: tonkotsu ramen, with or without added chashu. You can add toppings such... More
Order through a ticket machine (only 2 type - chasu ramen & normal ramen with lesser chasu). My brother and I try both. Give the ticket to staff, they will arrange you seat (by giving number if the shop is full). The service is very fast, quite a big bowl of ramen and we're ready to walk. There are few... More
Very basic shop, have several branches, some have seating tables while other are counter tops. We were initially put off by the very basic set up where you have to buy a ticket from a vending machine and stand and eat, nevertheless absolutely worth it. The best ramen we have eaten, the broth is superb as are the noodles. There... More
Purchase your ticket from a vending machine, give it to the cooks and they whip it out right away. Extra condiments of kimchee and garlic, you can scoop what you want to make it spicy. Just the right seasoned broth, noodles al dente, just the right amount. We walked across from them and shared a order of takoyaki. Hit the... More
The spot is on a main path in Dotonbori. All sorts of interesting people and places to see nearby. You order at a vending machine, wait for them to seat you at a table, and grab the ramen yourself when it's ready. The water dispensing machine serves ice at the same time! First time I've seen that! Ok, the ramen... More
It's hard to describe a dish like ramen when ultimately there are several factors that lead to a great ramen; the broth, what goes into the broth, the type of broth (salt/miso), the things in the ramen itself. Kinryu is open 24 hours, in a very accessible place, serving piping hot ramen at a very good price; just choose between... More
600 yen gets you a rather large bowl of noodles with three slices of melty pork and seaweed. My bowl came without bean sprouts as a special request. The soup base is delicious and it was the best ramen I had during my two week trip to various cities in Japan! It is porky and rich and very drinkable. The... More
This is the first ramen as my dinner for my first day in osaka. You have to order and buy at the vending machine. Ramen will serve in just a few sec after you hand the receipt. WOW.. delicious!!!
Loved the ramen here and certainly worth coming back for seconds. Good rich stock that is not salty like others. Ramen al dente. Braised pork is tender and flavourful. Help yourself to more kimchi to suit your taste. My kids all agreed this was the best during our week in Osaka and Kyoto. 5 thumbs up. Ambience is unique too,... More
