We came here at the last minute . I googled best Ramen and this popped up . Was a 10 minute taxi ride from the Kyoto Hyatt. I ordered the burnt soy broth and added a salad and dessert. One of us ordered the same , one the regular broth and one ordered the cold noodles . No one tried... More

The confusing trek to Kyoto Gogyo and the wait for a table were both well worth it for the huge bowl of tasty burnt miso ramen I had heard so much about. I ordered mine with extra cabbage and it was ¥990 total. You get free iced tea with your meal, which is super refreshing when paired with a bowl... More

Dont go! It was terrible! For 3000 yen you get only some vegetables and 2 drinks. Even the taste was horrible. Blehhhhhhh

Every few minutes there was a dazzling blaze of fire as they make the burnt ramen, which was nothing less than rich and flavourful. The burning adds a slight smokiness, though I would have liked more spiciness. The decor was very modern and smaller features like bibs to prevent shirt stains (much needed!) really elevated this ramen restaurant for me.... More

We ordered the miso ramen with char Siew which cost less than 2000 Yen. The soup was different from the regular pork bone soup, and it looked very black and gooey but actually tasted very good. Should definitely try. Go at 11:30 when the shop opens so there is no queue. The crowds fill up rather quickly.

First of all this place is cool as hell. It's got a steelworks vibe going through and pretty much had us sold just by looking at the place. We ordered the burnt shoyu ramen and really enjoyed it. Very unique taste, but was quite rich. Definitely a must for any ramen fans!

Shop: 9/10 - Location: 8/10 - Food (Not Ramen): 9/10 - Staff: 8/10 - Burned Ramen: 4/10 Me and my girlfriend's first impression was that it looked and felt cozy, and had a good smell. We ordered some side dishes first like Shrimp-Mayo, Karaage, Some Vegetable mix. All was very good quality! Loved the Shrimp. We ordered our Burned Ramen... More

This is our second visit to this restaurant . This is better for lunch than dinner. The atmosphere is nicer downstairs as upstairs is small, cramped and plenty of smokers. The noodles and broth were tasty but the burnt miso broth had black floaters of miso which looked like washings from an iron skillet. The gyoza was tasty but the... More

Went here on strength of previous reviews, and we were not disappointed. Lovely setting, staff and pyrotechnics from the chef. And the food (burnt ramen, and another one that was more creamy) was some of the tastiest we had in Japan
