Good place to stop by if your passing

Found this place by chance during a long walk home from the Golden Pavilion. There is a small menu with some very tasty looking home baked bread and a few Japanese dishes. The staff were very friendly, going above and beyond to ensure we had all that we needed. There is an English menu, some great... read more

Having booked this place for lunch, thinking we could let our little ones play for n hour, during a busy day sight seeing, we were disappointed to find that their website falsly advertised a toddlers play zone. Food was okay.

Cafe Frosch became my home-base during a few days visit to Kyoto. As a traveler from overseas, it is easy to get overwhelmed by all the sites and things you're trying to squeeze into a few days. This is a nice place to come to relax with a coffee or a beer. And a slice of cake. Definitely a slice... More

Staying in Nishijin District

Neighborhood Profile
Nishijin District
A district with a long textile heritage, ancient Kyoto is still alive in the Nishijin District. Studded with its weaving factories, tea houses, and onsen, the neighborhood is charming and peaceful with a self-possessed air. Less traveled than other parts of the city, it is a district where you can take it at your own pace. Visitors can explore the many weaving and cloth houses, the free kimono shows, and the many shops selling traditional clothing and goods. Showcasing architecture with sloping roofs and wooden reliefs dating to decades past, the streets in the Nishijin District transport you back in time, making them a joy to wander.
