Delicious udon and tempura

Two excellent noodle restaurants are right next to each other north of the zoo (not worth visiting) and east of the Heian Shrine and Garden (definitely worth visiting). One is Okakita and the other is Yamamoto Menzou. They both often have lines, but the night we went to the latter, there was no wait... read more

One is Okakita and the other is Yamamoto Menzou. They both often have lines, but the night we went to the latter, there was no wait at all. This tiny restaurant is more... More

During my trip in Kyoto with my girlfriend, one dinner I was alone because she was very tired: then i searched a restaurant near my hotel and I found this great one! Noodles and tempura were great, cooks and owners were so nice too!

Vegetable tempura was some of the best I've had. Waited in line for over 2 hours, but it was definitely worth it.

Stumbled upon this place on a hot June day of temple hopping in East Kyoto. Not only are the noodles fantastic, but the veggie tempura was the best I had in Japan. Made to order with the freshest vegetables, not at all greasy, it was a perfect complement to the noodles. Well worth the wait. The owner seemed very grateful... More

Our second year in a row to visit kyoto. And of course we remember to revisit yamamotomenzo again joining a very long line, waited for hour and half to enjoy a bowl of piping hot udon. The noodle is still top rated and the reparation still down to the details. Cooked in front of you only when you sit down.... More

We came upon it by accident, but fell in love with its hand made udon right away. We ended up eating there three times during our stay at Kyoto. Order it with beef or pork. The tempura chicken is also great . There is always a long line here. But I assure you it worths the wait. We are Italian... More
