We each ordered from the set menu, both chose a fish. I was not hungry so was ordering more to be companionable, but the food was well-prepared. The service provided just enough attention, and kindly offered us a table with a better view when one...became available.More

As most restaurants in Japan you can not see insight. Here we sat at the window so we had a nice view over the city. Food was of very good quality and again very suprising. Drinks were included. This restaurant is on the top floor...of the station building.More

In the building above Kyoto Station, this restaurant offers good food with an expansive view across the station and Kyoto. There is an English menu and good range of dishes available. We enjoyed some delicious grilled fish with a range of accompaniments, including a good...charwan sushi. Service was friendly and attentive.More

I have eaten here several times over the years, since the restaurant opened in 2011, and the food has been consistently good. You can done by the window if you are lucky and see the Shinkansen pulling into the station. Prices are reasonable and the...quality is excellent. The waitstaff is pleasant and food comes quickly even when they tell you there will be await. Beer is also served.More

We took 2 complete menu with 2 different fishes, I don't say the food was not good but the fish piece was really small for the price we paid and the rest wasn't memorable.. The staff was although gentle and the restaurant clean.

Based on the reviews on tripadvisor our expectations were higher. Compared with other restaurants we visited that week, this restaurant served average dinner. There are better options in Kyoto (with comparable prices).

Ranging from 2000 to 2200 yen, the set of Saikyo-zuke (main dish), three side dishes, rice, pickles and miso soup made for an affordable washoku dinner. (Washoku is the traditional Japanese meal comprising rice, miso soup and a variety of dishes, with an emphasis on...seasonal ingredients.) The dinner at Eijuan was a good value-for-money meal but we really shouldn't have ordered an extra beef dish as the generous chunks were served chilled. What a pity. It would have been amazing as a grilled dish! Try "Washoku" Restaurant Eijuan if you are in the vicinity and want a decent meal without burning a hole in your pocket. However, I don't think it will be terribly memorable...More

We got attracted by the variety of grilled fish dinner set they offer and decided to give it a try, ordered a grilled alfonsino and a grilled salmon dinner set, and both were delicious. First time trying alfonsino, its unique texture and taste is really...nice and fresh. Salmon gives off a fragrant grilled taste, very appetizing. The dinner set also comes with chawanmushi, a tofu dish, vegetables appetizer, miso soup, pickles and rice, very filling and satisfying meal. English menu is available and the service here is very efficient and staff is friendly too.More

We came here on our second night in Kyoto. The restaurant is small, inside The Cube 11th floor, with nice view of Kyoto. Not so many choices, but we don't know what to choose anyway, so we took the set menu. I took salmon and...my husband took sea bream. We found it very tasty.More

Good quick lunch on level ten of the train station. My fish was perfectly cooked, not overdone. The set is $18 per person which includes miso , dumplings , pickles and tea. Very decent for a mid range quick meal. also service was attentive.

Actually, my first aim are another Kyoto Cuisine Shop, but my family & friend can't accept their high expenses. Then I found this place, wanna try theirs fish & Kyoto cuisine. Place are not big but comfort (in my opinion, almost all Japan restaurant are...so), moderate dinning light with window view of Kyoto Station southern area. The complete set of food are very good, especially Sea Bream & Alfonsino are my favorite. They have English menu, but only for the main dishes name & instruction to place the orders, a little bit of Japaness knowledge will be advantage. They claims that they don't serve vegetarian foods, as the main dish menu show the same too.More

This was the culmination of our hunt for vegetarian food on our return from a day trip to Nara. Firstly, it is important to understand how difficult - or easy - it is to find something in japan when you do not know the language....We had been in Japan for about 5 days and had concluded that it is almost next to impossible to accost someone in a shop or restaurant and convey to them that we need vegetarian food or eats. Anyhow, Kyoto being a busy station and hopefully more exposed to foreigners speaking only English and given the largish number of food places, we thought it might be a good place to try and find vegetarian food. So we caught the elevator to the 12th floor of the station building which houses just food joints. We were prepared but determined to find vegetarian food and decided to try every place that we came across. At the first place, the every helpful staff tried their best to understand our needs - no fish, no meat, no pork, no nothing that moves, just "yasai' the sole Japanese word to convey vegetables our Rough Guide gave us. As usual, we got a no, however with a very reluctant 'can make fired rice but very difficult'! The second place was faster in getting a no. On to the 3rd where after some toing and froing they said they could do vegetarian food !! WOW! day made! Escorted to a table, we sat down. A glass of water was brought as seems to be the norm in Japan. But just before we could settle down came the bad news - sorry everything has fish broth! So out we went again and popped into the next door. Imagine this whole story playing out in gestures and broken words of English - quite an experience. A nice hostess at the next place told us that they have a vegetarian choice in the form of Fried Tofu and Tofu with vegetables. We decided to make a meal of them with sticky rice and sat down. The food arrived soon enough and my wife and I were looking at each other. This was our first real exposure to Japanese food and Japanese portions. There was a solitary piece - maybe 2 inches square - of fried Tofu floating in some clear liquid as one dish. The other dish - Tofu with vegetable - had two smaller pieces again floating in some clear liquid with hardly any traces of vegetables. Alongside, there was some soy sauce and one helping of Japanese vegetable pickles. A whole day of hunger, the desperate hunt for a place to eat and now this! We ordered another helping of sticky rice and had our meal. No doubt the two tofu dishes were tasteful but not something to be very excited about. But I guess we should be happy with the fact that we managed to get a vegetarian meal and did not have to resort to breads or an Indian restaurant. So I don't really know whether to recommend this restaurant or not, though we are thankful that we got something to eat. P.S. Let it be said that there are vegetarian restaurants in Kyoto. We had a list given by the tourist office. It is just that the effort required to get to them seemed overwhelming, more so after a hard day being on our feet.More
