A Must Visit Restaurant in Kyoto!

This was our second time to Kyoto, and we had to come back to Katsukura. It by far is the best katsu I've had -- great staff, and reasonably priced too (around $13-$14 for katsu, soup, rice and tea). It's a great experience, as you grind your own sesame seeds to pour the katsu sauce into. To... read more

Enjoyed the premium cuts which was succulent and moist on the inside. Goes very well with the sesame sauce. Unlimited re-fills for the salad. A good and enjoyable meal.

Due to lack of time, we started looking at the mass of Japanese food outlets to be found normally on the top floor above city rail stations... (Tokyo and Kyoto in particular)... and what a suprise, these places are very popular with locals, so your guaranteed a great meal at a sensible price.... Rather than pay the £30+ per person... More

I've heard so much about this place, the big hype, the long queues and rumours. I agreed to some of the claims, but not all. I visited this place in the evening, after the busy dinner rush, upon arrival in Kyoto. We were seated promptly without having to wait in the queue. We had the two best Pork Katsu, Prawn... More

I was looking forward to having tonkatsu here and since we were staying at the Granvia hotel, it was literally 5 minutes away. We arrived at 4:30 so we didn't have to wait for a table. The place was pretty full when we arrived which surprised me. We both ordered the pork loin. I believe we ordered the better of... More

This gotta be the best Tonkatsu I had in Japan! It's a long wait for seat. In fact, I randomly picked this restaurant after walking one around at The Cube. As I didn't want to solely have Tonkatsu only, I opted for the Tonkatsu with Yuba set. 1st, you have to grind the sesame seeds & they have 3 different... More

Not as good as we expected... and the service was horrible. There were 4 tables seated after us who were served before us, not sure why.
