The night I went to this restaurant I wasn't feeling that hot. However this was by far one of the best pieces of meat that I've ever put in my mouth. We got to set price menu which was relatively expensive but for this kindly beef it is worth it. Hope I come back and visit. I will definitely be... More

When visiting Japan, the must try thing is its famous Japanese beef. We choose to sit at the counter seating which I highly recommend as you can watch the chef prepare and cook and have some conversation. The non-counter seating is just kind of boring. The beef/steak is well beyond our expectation. We've been visiting Japan many times and every... More

The beef, as predicted, was tender and delicious, but the rest of the food, and the wine, highly overrated. Vegetables overcooked and lukewarm, bread very low quality, desserts uninteresting. A pity to spend so much here when there is such good food available elsewhere for so much less!

Thank you TripAdvisor, as I would never have known about this place. 3 nights in Kyoto and I ate here on 2 of them! Hafuu is vastly superior to a 2 star michelin french restaurant in Tokyo I ate in a couple of days earlier, in terms of both food quality, quantity and value. But let me clarify 1 thing... More

After a little bit of research we decided to settle on Hafuu for our Christmas Day over indulgence and we could not have been happier with the choice that we made (which was based largely upon the fact that the restaurant has been set up and is run by an ex-butcher that suggested to us that the beef would at... We came to Hafuu Honten to try the legendary Wagyu beef and were not disappointed at all. The restaurant is pretty small, so we were quite lucky to get a place without a reservation. Service is friendly and can speak English. I chose the classic menu, my wife chose the one with fish and meat. Both were excellent. The meat... More

Location - 5-10 mins walk from two subway stations, not that difficult to find. Use your map. There are two branches on the same street. Reception - warm, welcoming. Drinks - limited. But the Densyo Sake was awesome. So was the house cocktail Food - Great does not describe the experience. Portion was enough. Only one of us had the... More

The restaurant has a nice ambience and by choosing the set price menu, one can get a top quality meal at a decent price. Service was also very good. Well done, and thanks for the hospitality.
