I was skeptical to come here based on some of the negative reviews below but glad we came. Myself along with my family 5 of us total (and one 2 yo) came here to dine. I will say that the restaurant is small and does get quite "smoky" when all the burners are going and you will leave the restaurant... More

Made this a destination based on its ranking - an glad i did. Intimate, friendly to a solo English speaker and delicious and artfully prepared. Excellent ingredients, prepared simply. Sometimes that is all that is required.

This place is really popular. The food is very good and the chef's course is the way to go here as it includes wagyu beef (other courses only include chicken and veges). Request to sit at the chef's counter if you can. Chef Ken spent 16 years in the States and obviously speaks fluent English so there is no lost... More

Our group of 6 ended up at this restaurant by accident. We had thought that we had a reservation at a nearby restaurant with a similar name. While we realized our mistake, we thought it better to make the most of it and stay for dinner. The food was quite good but since it is grilled right in front of... More

What a discovery! This small restaurant is a true delight: all kinds of foods are grilled on a stone between the guests and the chef who takes care of everything before our eyes! The meal is punctuated by salads, various vegetables, various sauces, sticky rice and miso soup. All accompanied by a good Japanese beer! The menu is in English... More

Everyone there was a tourist. Food was ok. If this is the top of your price range, then go, but if you can afford more, then definitely look elsewhere. Could choose from the full menu in English, the set dinner was around ¥3500. Staff speak English.

I have no clue how this restaurant has these ratings. I've been to other Korean BBQ restaurants and this was by far the worst. We paid ¥4000 per person ($40 USD) and received two small salads, several bland chicken dishes, a tiny bowl of veggies and "Kobe" beef... In the form of a hamburger patty. As everything cooked the restaurant... More

We've been here for our 9th anniversary. Online feedback has been pretty good, so we went for it. It was a bit difficult to find at first, at the end of the Pontocho Alley, but it was surely worth looking for it....and it's definitely not closed, as other reviewers stated. The food here is prepared on stone-grills right in front... More

We had a great experience in this restaurant, after we managed to find it which was not easy (but that's not rare in Kyoto). The food was delicious, well made, and made in front of our table which is a very nice experience. The dishes come one after the other (seafood, chicken, vegetables and meat), of different sorts, and at... More

We went for dining after all the comments from this website and we were dissapointed. The food is not so special and it is very expensive according to the usual food in Kyoto and in Japan. The standard menu consists of grilled seafood, vegetables and meat (chicken), with a couple of sauces and that is all!! No special cooking or... More
