Great place for breakfast and lunch

This place is great for breakfast and lunch. The food is amazing, it's not overpriced and the atmosphere is great too. Will definitely visit again.

We visited Iyemon a couple of times, first for tea and cakes, second for lunch. There was a choice of Japanese teas, beautifully served on a tray with teapot, hot water flask, strainer and precise instructions about how to make the perfect cup of whichever tea you had ordered. Cakes/desserts were delicious and nicely presented. Lunch was fresh, delicious and... More

My friend and I went to this cafe for a light meat in the afternoon. The place is extremely cozy and it serves breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner. Their menu is very simple, however I tried their 'Green Tea Pasta' and it was heavenly!!! The taste of this food is so incredible, it's a combination of Japanese flavor married... More

Most of us don't take breakfast too seriously especially on working weekdays but not for my father who takes his meals regularly. This is also a good thing when we are traveling together as we would wake up early to have proper quality breakfast. One good place that I would highly recommend for breakfast is Iyemon Salon, a modern Japanese... More

This is my fourth visit to Kyoto and anytime I am here, my brother and his wife, who are living here, take to Iyemon. So we have chosen it for the new year's eve dinner as well. We have had our booking a month ago, telling them that we also have a baby with her pushchair. We went there half... More

We had a lovely Matcha tea with wagashi the typical Japanese tea, very sweet, to be eaten before drinking the slightly bitter powder green tea. The cafe is pretty, rather spacious abd - I dare say - typical Japanese. A wonderful treat offered from my Japanese friends.

Reasonable priced lunch in a relaxing restaurant. Lots of different teas to choose from and a wonderful Japanese sweets selection.

We loved this place and visited for lunch one day and returned for dinner the following. The space is beautifully designed and has a lovely relaxed yet funky vibe and friendly service. Try and sit at the back - which looks onto a small courtyard - if you can. Lunch menu was quite short, but my rice bowl topped with... More

My husband and I stopped here for lunch at around 1:30 on a Saturday afternoon and it was still quite busy, but we were seated after about a 10 minute wait. They had an English menu and provided us with their fresh tea of the day (no charge) right away. They had several lunch sets to choose from and I... More

Staying in City Center

Neighborhood Profile
City Center
No district of Kyoto is quite as representative of its blended nature as the City Center. By day, the covered shopping arcades along Kawaramachi and Shijo Street bring deal hunters and fashionistas out in droves to peruse the clothing, accessories, gifts, and home goods offerings. When it grows dark, the City Center is a hip spot for nightlife, alive with bars and clubs. A trendy culinary scene and an abundance of local watering holes give the Center its youthful vibrancy. In contrast, the quieter areas of the City Center seem a world away, shielded from noise by the foliage of the public gardens and zen spaces surrounding the area's shrines, castles, and the Imperial Palace. These ancient and sacred spots are seamlessly folded into the scenery, providing a respite from the energy of the city, but close enough to put you directly back onto the pulse of the city when you're ready.
