The staff here are very friendly, with a handy english menu for the gaijin. They have a limited but reasonable grasp of English and are happy to explain things. The picture should make it much easier to find.

Dining at Hassei was one of the best experiences of our time in Japan. The location is very close to the main street, however, as per the other reviewers we found the store frontage to be unassuming and innocuous. Once we were seated - we were treated to a culinary show. Whilst we didn't sit in front of the hot...

This was our second experience of the day with okonomiyaki and we really enjoyed it. The food did taste better than the one we'd had earlier in the day, although we struggled to finish it here because the portions seemed even larger.
We also got a chance to eat straight off the main grill which was a nice touch, and...

Not bad. OK, it is true that I did not have many Okonomiyakis in life, but this doesn't feel to be the #1 place. Staff are friendly, the place is easy to find, the interior is a bit stinky from the kitchen.
The meals are huge, for less than 1000 yen you will be filled like you eat for two...

Delicious food, excellent service and inexpensive. Best to sit at the counter to have the best view. We had such a good experience there on our first night at Hiroshima that we came back for more the following evening. Definitely one of our best meals in Japan.
Went for the seafood special okonomiyaki and it was to die for. No other okonomiyaki we had on our trip even came close. Excellent prices. Highly recommended and worth the search to find the place. One member of the staff even followed us out the front door and offered to take a photo for us. Such service!
We followed the previous reviews on Tripadvisor and found Hassei. It was as expected; tiny, full of character and served great food. We had the best view at the centre of the teppanyaki, and were entertained by the Chef and his team.
I am not one for superlatives, but this and the bar that followed were genuinely outstanding. If you...

We got here by chance, this restaurant was the nearest from our hotel (Tokyuu Bizfort). The place isn't big, reservation is required at the weekends for dinner. The okonomiyaki we ate was delicious, probably the best I have ever had in my life, a lot bigger than we had in Osaka and the taste was a lot better, as well. The...

We just got out of this place, as I'm currently writing from Hiroshima, and we had an amazing time at Hassei...
The service was very pleasant and helpful, and it was a true japanese experience, as we were the only "Gaijin" in the restaurant, despite the fact that it has been featured on the last edition of the lonely planet....

hard to find little okonomiyaki restaurant near the peace park. we only found this place after asking for directions from a few people (even though there is an english sign outside!).
