This place is great. Attentive service, and the okonomiyaki is delicious. The storefront isn't big so if you can't find it ask someone, the locals know it!

Hard to find but well worth the effort. Great food and a great experience. We walked right in, and were eating in 10 minutes.

Amazing food and a very friendly staff that helped us very much. We were the only foreigners at that time in the restaurant. I would definitely go back there if I'm ever in Hiroshima.

Really small but friendly Okonomiyaki place just off Peace Boulevard and close to the centre of Hiroshima. The food was great and the staff were lovely. We had a similar experience to previous reviewers in turning up and being told to come back in an hour. But I honestly think it's just because it is such a small place and... More

Having loved Mizuna in Osaka, we were recommended this restaurant in Hiroshima. There were apparent differences in organisation versus Osaka and Hiroshima. Hassei does not seem to have a reservation system thus making the process confusing as most people are given the spiel to come back in an hour! Despite it all, it was an authentic Hiroshima experience with friendly... More

This place is great, I had the okonomiyaki, really good, but what sets it apart you can get udon or Soba noodles, the other where I ate was at Okonomimuri that only had spaghetti type noodles. If you can, go to Hassei.

A great place where the locals eat...we were the only tourists. We tried a couple other okonomiyaki spots, but this was one of the favorites!! They have English menus and the cooks were friendly and tried to make a little small talk. Sautéed mushrooms were delish! Yes, there's smoking inside, but you're also in Japan. Most places will have smoking... More

It can be easy to miss what the Japanese are doing while one is being a tourist in Japan but Hassei - serving us a couple of Okonomiyaki - seemed like a place where real people were eating. We hot at a hot plate table and had a great meal, a few beers and as much of a conversation with... More

Very disappointed after reading reviews and walking 2 km with two kids to enter a terrible small place filled with smokers and drinkers, with nobody on TA mentioning this ambience. Completely overhyped. Luckily we continued down the road about three blocks south to run into Renren, if not a more locally popular Okonomiyaki restaurant.

It's hard to say if this is the best restaurant in Hiroshima since we were only in Hiroshima for two days, but it was certainly a very good restaurant. We walked into the restaurant on a weekday at 7 PM (1900) and unfortunately, there were not any seats available. They told us to come back in one hour, which we... More
