It was disappointing that we didn't get to enter the museum as it was closed. Was told that it was leave in lieu as the day before was a public holiday. So folks please check the Japanese holiday calendar before visiting.

We enjoyed a fun evening at the beer garden. We ordered lamb, seafood, and some vegetables. There is a hot plate at your table and you cook the food to your liking. You are supplied with lard and tongs and enjoy the experience! Thankfully there are very large bibs supplied as well as large plastic bags for your jacket, purse,... More

your visit to sapporo wont be complete without trying this restaurant.......when we got to the area....all the while it was just a sightseeing or museum of a beer garden.....not knowing there is a restaurant beside the souveneir shop.....the facade looks like just a museum....a bear near a fireplace....but there is a lift going up the 2nd floor.......upon reaching the 2nd... Food was good (as pretty much everywhere in Japan) but not something we would specially remember. I thought the menu was a bit short. On the positive side the lamb was excellent, very fresh and tasty.

The Sapporo Beer Garden is part of the Sapporo Beer Museum Complex - the restaurant is Japanese BBQ style (Yakiniku) and features "Sapporo Roll" and fresh lamb from Australia and New Zealand. Go for the all you can eat/drink option and take a group of friends - a cheap and fun lunch or dinner.

It is absolutely amazing that the germans allowed all their fine art and research on how to make good beer to be copied by the japanese. Some people say its a tourist trap, but given the level of english spoken here, I think its just a place to get drunk and look at shiny things whilst eating all the lamb... More

This is regarded as a 'must do' for visitors to Sapporo. While it is definitely a tourist destination, it is still fun to do and is not too expensive. You really are free to order as much beer, meat and veg as you want if you buy the all you-can-eat option which is likely the best option for most people.

Tourist trap on one hand, but that's to be expected. What isn't is that while the Japanese generally do a lot of externally-imported things well, I have to say that either a lack of knowledge about....or consumer demand for...has relegated the "beer garden" to a pretty lame celebration of both their own beer, and a time honored German tradition. Sometimes... More

It is reallly touristic: three different large rooms with entire large buses coming all around. You will be in a huge room, which smells a lot, and eat BBQ lamb with beers. If you like this atmosphere and like the lamb grilled, then go there! We have been there 8 years ago and came back specially for it when we... More
