The Sapporo Beer Garden is part of the Sapporo Beer Museum Complex - the restaurant is Japanese BBQ style (Yakiniku) and features "Sapporo Roll" and fresh lamb from Australia and New Zealand. Go for the all you can eat/drink option and take a group of friends - a cheap and fun lunch or dinner.

It is absolutely amazing that the germans allowed all their fine art and research on how to make good beer to be copied by the japanese. Some people say its a tourist trap, but given the level of english spoken here, I think its just a place to get drunk and look at shiny things whilst eating all the lamb... More

This is regarded as a 'must do' for visitors to Sapporo. While it is definitely a tourist destination, it is still fun to do and is not too expensive. You really are free to order as much beer, meat and veg as you want if you buy the all you-can-eat option which is likely the best option for most people.

Tourist trap on one hand, but that's to be expected. What isn't is that while the Japanese generally do a lot of externally-imported things well, I have to say that either a lack of knowledge about....or consumer demand for...has relegated the "beer garden" to a pretty lame celebration of both their own beer, and a time honored German tradition. Sometimes... More

It is reallly touristic: three different large rooms with entire large buses coming all around. You will be in a huge room, which smells a lot, and eat BBQ lamb with beers. If you like this atmosphere and like the lamb grilled, then go there! We have been there 8 years ago and came back specially for it when we... More

This is a big restaurant. Food is above average. We are served unlimited servings of fresh and frozen lamb and vegetables for BBQ. The fresh lamb tasted better than frozen lamb and we ordered plate after plate. If you are a big meat eater, then this is probably value for money, It is just next to Sapporo Beer Museum, so... More

This german-styled beer cellar restaurant IS a tourist trap - as we pulled up in a coach, there were already 8 coached parked - but it is still a fun evening out. There is only a simple choice of food (lamb, seafood, vegetarian hotpot) and a binary choice of beer (light or dark) but the service is very swift, the... More

The Beer Museum is well worth seeing, but skip this tourist trap of a restaurant. The dining room is attractive and the staff is pleasant enough, but the food is extremely overpriced for what you get. In a city full of great restaurants, you'll be wasting your time at this one. The big thrill here is the Genghis Khan lamb... More

Went to Sapporo Beer Museum but unfortunately it was shut so we went and had dinner at the Sapporo Beer Garden restaurant instead. The dining room was interesting with the big beer distiller in the middle. Agreed with other reviews that it was rather touristy but quite fun to be there and the BBQ lamb was very tasty. We were...
