Nice location, good food

Very nice setting near downtown. We were able to get an English menu and order food not too spicy. Service was slow because it was late andwe could see them preparing dinner for the staf

This is an excellent restaurant in Kunming. During a recent holiday in the city we dined here twice and it was excellent both times. Try the t-bone with pepper and chilli, roast pork with pear, noodles (of course) and the duck here is very good as opposed to mediocre in most other places in the city. The Yunnan red wine... More

Make sure you try the mushroom pastry parcels and the cheapest red wine, the bordeaux, was very good indeed for 160 RMB. Well worth getting a private room (book and be there before 6.30pm), if you don't want to have to loud neighbours. Service wasn't great, but adequate. 3 of us ate extremely well for 250 RMB with an extra... More

This place is actually several adjacent buildings including an old train station in which we were eventually seated. The blue walls were stained, the menu grubby, the wait-staff untrained, the service sporadic. The food when it finally arrived was actually good including a plate of sliced roasted meats with pork, local ham, pigeon and swan (yes, swan!). Somewhat pricey. Best... More

We arrived at 4 pm, couldnt order about half of the dishes because it's the chef's siesta between 2 and 4:30 pm. Would've been nice to have known before we were seated. Attitude was overall careless and slow, sometimes even ignoring my questions the first time i asked. Big restaurant, french style decor. Food was quite nice, prices of dishes... More

1910 is a great restaurant hidden down an alley. We had super spicy noodles, meat balls, and a couple of other items. The service was friendly even though no one spoke English. You must try this restaurant if you're in Kunming.

We came about half an hour before closing time; they had run out of most stuff, and said plainly they didn't want to make us anything that they couldn't make quickly. Waiters were hard to come by and not always clueful (they brought our dessert first and we had to ask twice for them to take it back and bring... More

The Chinese interpretation of French hospitality. Ofcourse, language is still an isue, but the menu is in English and some of the staff masters the English language. Good food and now funny surprices. Ofcourse, more expensive than the avarage streetfood or local restaurants.

Got the "single Westerner in a totally Chinese restaurant" treatment. Was shunted into a bleak siding all on my own where the waiting staff assembled the dishes before taking them into the rather nice nearby dining rooms. They gave me the pointy photograph menu and seemed to take great pleasure in saying what I wanted was off. Eventually settled for... More

My wife and I speak quite good mandarin after years living in China. So when a waiter was mixing up our order we tried to clarify at the time of ordering. No bullfrog, just mushrooms! of course both come out. what was interesting was how the staff surrounded us an began a heated debate. Not cool, and it really spoiled... More
