For sure it is a wonderful location but clearly it is a very bad quality of food and not a real experience...

The restaurant itself is not upscale, just average. They serve 16 different types of dumplings, we liked 3 of them. This restaurant is OK. It was fun to have the dumpling experience, but it wasn't a great dinner or one to recommend or have a repeat visit.

Supposedly a specialist Dim Sum restaurant with pretty pictures of all the different Dim Sum they do & special 'set menu' for toursists. Avoid at all costs. Poor/surly service, the worst Dim Sum we experienced in China & now simply a total tourist rip off!

I think I could make better dumplings, they fell apart as soon as you tried to eat them. No English menus and difficult to work out what to order, Considering this is a well known restaurant an English menu wouldn't go astray. You even had to pay for your own napkins

If you want to eat here you have to know Chinese. I planned to have dinner there, but the service girl told me they don't have English menu, and nobody speaks English and then just stared at me blankly. Lot's of locals who seem very content, I just guess they do not welcome foreigners.

After reading positive reviews initially, I though we should give it a try. The cost is absolutely outrageous for dumplings but I don't want to review it based on price alone. If you've tasted chinese food, dumplings to be specific, this is just ordinary. The waitresses are fun and chatty. They will explain in depth how to eat the dumplings... More

De Fa Chang Dumpling Restaurant is a famous restaurant. Apparently, Xian is all about the dumpling and this was a really fun experience. We had our own room as part of our tour, and we had all different kinds of dumplings. They say this restaurant makes 200 different kinds of dumplings and it was really good! We didn’t get to... More

My wife and I love dumplings so we kind of considered this place a must do. We did the smallest banquet and it definitely was a fun experience and you do get to see some unique dumplings. However I can't say any of them were particularly delicious. None were disgusting, but I can get many better dumplings in Chinatown Philadelphia.... More

We had seen this restaurant on a travel channel program and decided to try it. Dumplings are always good, but even better when shaped into animals! To get the animal shaped ones, you need to order one of the set menus. There's a meat one, a seafood one, etc. Ala carte ordering is possible but the shapes are traditional ones,... More

Yes, the restaurant is old and has a long and respectable history, but the food was nothing special, and the servings are small. We went with one of the set banquets, not the cheapest either (which was the one the waitress recommended - the more expensive sets have additional courses added). The bill for 2 people was almost 500 RMB... More
