Good lunch

This is a Theatre which, in the evenings does a show accompanied by a dinner. We went there for a lunch where the auditorium is filled with tables and chairs, and all the food is served as a buffet. Sure, this adds a traditional Chinese song and dance show to dinner. That incorporates another element into your visit to Xi'an. I thought the food was utterly mediocre at best. I'd much rather be at a restaurant where I can decide what to order. The pre-fixed meals are nicely served in courses by servers that are in an obvious hurry... More

What a wonderful evening, a highlight of our time in China. The performance was interesting, colourful and delightful. Live musicians, singers and dancers. I loved every minute. The food was the best meal we had during our China trip, Artistically served and it tasted as good as it looked. The service was good and the food plentiful. I would recommend... More

Posh theatre lunchtime visit. Home made noodles, made as you queue, queue being the operative word, lengthy and slow. The noodles are delicious. And you can also do the eat all you like buffet, but the choice is fairly limited. I had good black bean chicken but the curry was rubbish and most everything else cold.

When I visited Xi’an I ate my last lunch in that city at “The Tang Dynasty” restaurant. I was pretty surprised about the service and the quality. Unfortunately, I am not able to say something about the price since it was included in the booked tour. Only remarkable was that the tea was free, which was often not the case... More

We went for lunch as a part of a tour and did not see this show so I can't comment on that part. The lunch buffet was fine, nothing special. They did offer some freshly made noodles in two varieties. I seem to remember salad, fried wantons, fruit, noodles, sushi, and a few other choices on the buffet. Service was... More

This restaurant is a beautiful portrayal of what ancient China most likely felt/ looked like. The food was definitely up to par and the atmosphere was great. Hearing live music and seeing the authentic performance definitely brought me satisfaction that I've been looking for on my trip to China. Highly recommended.

I really don't get the previous reviews. Is it geared to foreign tourists? Yes, of course. The big foreign tour groups are the primary patrons but on the night we attended there were also a lot of Chinese present. Though I agree the service is rushed, everyone at our table enjoyed the meal. What I really don't understand are the... More

We had the dumpling dinner / performance package for RMB 400: 1. We had to eat the dumplings in a separate room as we didn't book the dinner / performance package for 500. Nobody told us in advance... 2. The service was very bad, even for Chinese standards. 3. Although the chef is one of the most famous in Xi'an... More

The music was decent in a low-budget Chinese movie kind of way. The show was up and down. Had some good performers and some quite average. The food was terrible! plates of so-so Chinese food rushed to your table so the show can get started. I did like the unlimited Chinese sake served warm during the meal. Not worth the... More
