Fine...just not fine dining....but that is offset by the exquisite setting....the Li River is beautiful....even magical....a must see if traveling to China
There seems to be some confusion on some of the reviews here, as they are about the cruise and not the restaurant. The restaurant is highly recommended by the locals, so we gave it a go. . . however, we find the food is average but with the price quite reasonable, it's hard to fault them.
We were herded onto a boat reserved for foreigners and sat 6 to a table with bench seats on two sides. It was pretty uncomfortable for a long trip. The scenery was beautiful - stunning actually - but there were too many boats and too many people. We chose to not eat the lunch buffet, which seemed to be a... More
Beautiful scenery and well worth the time. Terrible food-eat beforehand. This is a 1/2 day trip more than enough so do not combine with raft trip in same spot. Raft rides are a rip off- keep stopping for you to buy something and must sit on chairs and wear life jackets the whole time.
Amazingly the Shangri La Hotel recommended this restaurant for a anniversary meal. It was pretty down market with cramped tables, smokers everywhere, no air conditioning. The whole place was however packed. The reason was presumably the location - opposite a lovely lake (though not visible from the restaurant), the deliciousness and authentic food, the very reasonable price and the cooking... More
The best thing was that it is open late and clearly enormously popular and loved by locals. My tour guide recommended it and it was adjacent to my hotel anyway; mind you the one in my hotel was starkly empty while this one thrummed with life by a busy connecting street, with outdoor vendors before large open ground floor hall... Li River Cuisine Restaurant is walking distance from our hotel, Jing Guan Minglou Hotel Guilin. The walk is through the Ronghu beautiful and scenic lakeside landscape. The restaurant is brightly lit up, spacious and is served by many workers. Apart from the beautiful surrounding, the restaurant serves very delicious food and the charge is quite reasonable. We make it a... More
LiRiver boat tour needs to improve itself. The lunch was bad. Not satisfactory in choices and also not delicious. The boat needs to have seats at the top.We were tired to stand up for hours.Of course we could go down to sit how could we watch the beautiful scenery then?Remember the village on 20 Yuan can be seen on this trip.
A most enjoyable and relaxing day trip. We thoroughly enjoyed the scenery, karst landscape and people. The lower interior portion of the boats tables and seating was crowded. Each table accommodated 10-12 people. We had seating at a 4 person table in a small glassed area on the upper deck which made the trip and visibility more enjoyable. The food... More
The river cruise took about 4 hours in the morning. Well, it is just a passage on a shallow river with hills on both sides. That's about it. Nothing so spectacular. A mere 1 hour river cruise would be sufficient enough. The food on board was bad and the tour guide was hopeless; and it was really not worth the... More
