Description: Orient Express is a french restaurant under french management. The cuisine is real and authentic French and is not an approximate interpretation as it is often the case in china at “western”, “French” or “Italian” restaurants. It is located on the beautiful Shamian island in the center of Guangzhou. The restaurant has a large beautiful garden for outdoor dining. It also has a main dining room and two train wagons in the garden for romantic dining. It serves authentic French food for all budgets. The French cuisine combines traditional and authentic flavors with modern and original designs of the dishes. You will indulge yourself with:bourgogne snails,pan-fried goose liver with strawberries, fish tartare marinated and its red tuna sashimi, two kinds of fish carpaccio and its salmon cream,pan-fried scallops and black rice and asparagus,pan-fried sea food, grilled australien beef filet mignon with red pepper “crème brûlé” and crumble, grilled new Zealand lamp chops with houmous, babajanouj and roast vegetables, the traditional French bourguignon beef, french “Confit” style duck leg…It is a place visited by Chinese clients who are looking for an authentic French cuisine experience and come for birthdays, to ask their girl friend to marry, a special business meal or simply with the family. Many foreign business people as well as expatriate foreigners living in Guangzhou are regular clients.L’Orient express est un restaurant de cuisine et de gestion française.

Eclectic décor, just like stepping back in time but with contemporary wine and dining menus. We enjoyed a warm welcome, a delightful glass of wine and soaked up the ambience. Situated on historic Shamian Island, this was a wonderful find.

Have tried quite a few French restaurant in Guangzhou. Orient Express is the only restaurant that offers real French food, at least my French tongue thinks so. If it's your first time to go to the Shamian Island, it may be hard for you to find it though - you may want to check their How to Find Us page:... More

The location is very nice. The food on the menu looks very nice. As it was a little busy the service was very slow, although the waitresses did seem to be trying hard by running around a lot, it didn't seem to help the poor system in the kitchen. It took an hour and half to bring a steak. When... More

Great ambience, and friendly efficient service. My partner's food (fois gras and lamb) was beautiful, as was my salad entree, and creme caramel dessert, but my main course (duck with rosemary sauce) was not so good. The duck itself was lovely, but the sauce on it was red, reminiscent of ketchup, not rosemary, and the potato cake was too salty... More

Recent girls shopping trip, we dined 3 times at the Orient Express, in the garden, the wagon and also the restaurant. Staff welcoming, fantastic food, beautiful venue, wine list could be improved with some more New Zealand and Australian wines. Chefs surprised me with a special created toffee and chocolate based desssert for my birthdays with no prompting - it... More

You cannot miss this restaurant located conveniently at the beginning of Shamian Island. I ate twice in this restaurant. The first time was during the month of April 2013. Actually, with a couple of friends, we were attracted by the idea of having lunch on board the " Orient Express " which in itself is a good concept. The second... More
