Whilst this resraurant is very convenient if you are staying in the Holday Inn (opposite) it is worth travelling further afield to get better food. The food is below average & the premises are not very clean. We went there on the recommendation of the consierge in the Holiday Inn, but will not be going back.

I went here at the recommendation of the concierge at the nearby Holiday Inn. We were looking for good quality, local food. We were disappointed. The restaurant is set over three floors with an internal courtyard. Its not beautiful but it is interesting to look at. Its is packed and that is reflected in relatively slow service. The patrons appear... More

While called Guangzhou Restaurant, the dinner menu lacks many Cantonese specialties such as seafood. In fact the menu is interspersed with dishes hailing from other provinces. Nothing wrong with that but one expects Guangdong dishes from a restaurant named after the city of Guangzhou. We ended up ordering Cantonese dishes as well as those from the neighboring provinces. We skipped... More

Been to all those famous restaurants along shangxiajiu street. This is the one that you should visit. As for the rest, I will leave it to you to decide.

We have been to two branches. the one at Wenchang road and also the one at 3F, Wing Kin Square, or 29-31 Jianshe liu road. We were deeply disappointed with the one at Wing kin square as the overpriced food were oily and salty. Our first experience with the Wenchang branch was good but not our revisit. The dumpling skin... More

This is the review for the restaurant at No.2 Wenchang South Road Liwan, off Shangxiajiu pedestrian walk. Tel 020-8138 0388. Its a great place for tim sum and Cantonese food. The claypot fish head cooked with ginger, onion, garlic and spring onion is superb. Have been here many times.

I visited the branch in Jianshe lui road which is the main one and is really interesting. It has several floors with an atrium in the middle where there is a pond and a large tree growing. The dim sum is amazing, We tried various types of dumplings and chicken claws!. The meal starts with a waitress preparing the tea... More

This restaurant seems to have quite a few branches in the city. The one I went to thrice was in the Tianhe area. Local specialities like Wengchang Chicken (steamed chicken interspersed with slices of liver and bacon), Fried Milk (the most sublime dish of an egg custard on a thin bed of crispy noodles, with cubes of bacon, prawn and... It's quite difficult to find an authentic Chinese restaurant in Guangzhou. All the streets are crowded by sushi- or western style restaurants and this feels like the real deal in Guangzhou. When you enter the restaurant you have to take the elevator to the 2nd floor. When you arrive here you will be seated in the large dining area. Large... More
