Indeed, as a Russian my first impression was a shock: long tables surrounded with noisy tourists, loud life folklore music and tasteless interior aiming to resemble 'native' russian themes... However, as we asked to be seated in a calmer remote corner on the 1st floor the 1st impression deiced somehow. Very good service (although it seems the waiters speak only... More

We arrived in this new log cabin restaurant (reminds me of a mock tudor house but built in the 21st century!) and sat down to a five course Russian Lunch. The cuisine was average, the service good and we we were even treated to some Russian Music which was very good and fun! A large bottle of excellent Russian Vodka... More

We went here as part of a guided tour, food was all in. I really enjoyed all of it, there was something for the kids too and they provided some vegetarian dish. It came with good wines. The atmosphere is nice with live music around the tables and some stuffed bears. Not sure if it worth a detour, but worth... More

Stopped by this restaraunt on a trip to see Catherine's Place. Its a huge place and apparenetly very popular with tour operators and it was very croweded. I was at first a bit disenchanted with the place because of that but in the end the food was good, service was decent and the place was clean and organized. Overall a... More

I know Russia can be expensive but the prices at Podvorye were ridiculous. I had much better Russian food in Central Moscow at literally half the price, if you can believe it. President Putin may be able to eat at Podvorye but unless you are an oligarch and money is no object, you can dine on food just as good... More

Yes, it is touristy, but the food is superb if you can survive the variety of homemade vodkas and the bread beer. I still dream of the roasted quail and the pelmeni and the black cherry vareniki...incomparable. Very nice, attentive and professional staff, russian country decor, family type restaurant and all I can say is that we made a detour... More

The beef stroganoff was great! Local singers sang and entertained us while we ate. The structure is like a very large log cabin.

Went here because I saw it on Bizarre Foods with Andrew Zimmern on the Travel Channel. Seems touristy but the food was good and there were locals there. Had borsch, a few appetizers, and a couple of their infused vodkas. Would visit again.

Lunch visit. Started out with Borsch with beef - very good. Then had pelmeny - Russian dumplings stuffed with lamb and garnished with dill. My friends had potato pancakes and beef stroganoff - both rich.

Good meal on high price level but interesting with good taste! Homemade pirogs and preserves! Also for groups but quite far from city center but going to Pavlosk or Catherine it is the right stop
