We dined at the Idiot Restaurant twice in a 4 day visit to St. Petersburg. A meal at the Idiot was a blessing in disguise after a long walk under the sun on the banks of the Moika. We loved their decor. Dim lights, vintage furniture, old type writer, records... Between the two visits we have tried all dishes on... More

This was a wonderful restaurant with great service. Our waitress explained the menu and helped us order. I was really looking forward to the beet borscht but was surprised that it was hot as I was brought up with it being served cold with hot boiled potatoes. The Greek salad, potato pie and Pelmeni (dumplings) were very good. This was... More

Bohemian basement on the banks of Moika, very close to Mariinsky theater. It is mainly for vegetarians but now they serve also meat and fish. A complimentary vodka shot is served while you are waiting for your table sitting close a bust of Lenin. Good food and atmosphere

Had seen the reviews for this restaurant and we were so glad that we found it. Had a really good meal here, I had a mixed salad and then pork tenderloin and my daughter had borscht and then salmon dumplings. Portions were generous but we forced ourselves to have dessert!! Fried cheese balls and poached pears with ice cream. Kir... More

This is by no means a place you go for a nice dinner, per se, but the place is definitely unique. The service was quick and the food was delish. For the area, the prices were very reasonable. I would definitely suggest lunch as a nice option to visit. Overall, its one of the most unique places I have been.

We didn't have a booking but they managed to find us the last seat. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal, the beef stroganoff was excellent, as were the pelmini's with mushroom sauce. Good size portions, which was a nice change as we found many restaurants served quite small portions. Would definitely recommend going there.

It was fine, but not great. Firstly, it is in a really dingy basement. Secondly, the food is ok but not great. Thirdly, it is quite expensive. The staff are really nice - best feature really. I had a stuffed aubergine which came with nothing and was about 10 euro. Not terrible, or a rip off by any means, but... More

Excellent quick service, clear vegetarian menu, We had good hot Borscht, plus a free shot of Vodka to keep out the cold wet chill of a rainy day in May

We really loved this Restaurant so much that during a week in SPB we visited three times for our evening meal. The atmosphere is great and rather in keeping with SPB - pleasantly shappy, rather cellar-like, yet with chandeliers, and a few armchairs and bookcases thrown in for good measure. Its divided into several interlinking rooms and in some ways... More

Have to say that reports from trip advisor and from the French routard brought me to this place (the bloody French routard will get a separate message in French, translation of what's below), also because my wife and myself were tired and the idiot was very close to our hotel. No booking, but they find a table in a smoking... More
