Recommended for veggies

Slightly touristy but if you are a vegetarian then this place doesn't disappoint. My husband and I tried the cutlets and veg route (veg is a pastry) and both dishes were very tasty.

My party was all vegetarian so sought out restaurants that catered well for veggies - and this turned out to be our favourite. A great choice of dishes, some traditional Russian, some less so (though not going so far as 'fusion' ) - all tasted great and the setting is really cosy and homely. A very nice bottle of Georgian... Guided to the restaurant by the visitors' map, we found it to be OK but nothing exceptional. Maybe because it is so Western and I was looking for a Russian experience. The service was excellent and the staff spoke English well. The interior is pleasant; the furniture is the same antique oak sort that is popular across the US, not... More

Excellent russian cuisine. Friendly welcome. An old style decoration but so quiet and warm. I loved the food (russian stew), the butter with herbs, the fresh bread, the excellent wine. Everything was perfect.

Wonderful food, many vegetarian dishes, terrific service and a cozy atmosphere with all-American music playing all the time. From the crooners to Motown to jazz, they play it all. Wander the rooms to see old radios, typewriters, phones and other collections. The complimentary shot of vodka offered when you order is a great touch and puts you in the mood... More

Good atmosphere. Staff that care about clients. What a nice place to enjoy our visit. Vodka shots were a nice Russian touch. Good well priced food, and while it was my birthday, they gave us a Champagne BOTTLE that we shared with a nearby table. Very memorable visit, hope to return soon.

The Idiot was recommended by guests who had stayed at the hotel Domina Prestige. It is a very short walk Really relaxed place to spend an evening menus in English are available and the free shot of vodka relaxes the mood .A good choice of food and though predominantly vegetarian and fish meat does appear on the menu . smoked salmon... Wanted to find a restaurant with good vegetarian options while visiting St. Petersburg with my daughters, and am glad I found The Idiot. Good food (meatless an meat dishes), vodka shot on the house to start the evening. Very kind service from everyone, with English spoken. Cosy atmosphere with a warren of rooms.
