Thought we'd give this place a go to try some Russian food. Nice little venue, with bookshelves and quirky decor. Service was fine, I don't remember any serious problems here. You get a free shot of vodka, which is a nice touch. The food was fine, just that the portions were tiny. I had stroganoff which was nice enough only... More

This was one of our favorite places during our trip to Russia. Everything was right: the food, the atmosphere, a genuinely friendly staff that spoke English. I had a special dish with forest-collected mushrooms--a real treat. The name of the place is based on the famous Dostoyevsky novel. When asked, our waitress even gave us a plot summary of the... We found this restaurant by searching for vegetarian places. Its quite a busy place, but the waitresses speak good english, and take time to explain the menu. The complimentary vodka helps with the mood !! The service is quite fast, but we did not feel hurried to leave after we finished our meals.

Food was delicious but pasta was cold. 20 mins without food or drinks and no one came to serve us. Weitresses laughted at us more than once. We left dissapointed without ordering any desserts.

The atmosphere makes this place, and the food is fine. We went in for dinner on a rainy evening and had a great time. The vaulted ceilings and candle lit tables resemble a romanticised version of a soviet style eatery. We were greeted with complimentary vodka shots and a bread basket. The service was good, but the food was very... More

Lovely little restaurant with super food. The black bread with paprika butter is delicious. Great, warm and welcoming atmosphere, will definately return should we be lucky enough to come to St. Petersburg again.

I came here with my father looking for some authentic russian traditional food and that is exactly what we got! We came here twice on our visit to St. Petersburg and ordered a variety of traditional food including: Blini with red caviar, Pelemeni with salmon (I definitely recommend trying this!), herring with potatoes and their Borsch. Both visits totalled around... More

We are very thankful to have stopped at The Idiot Restaurant for dinner. Drinks were served quickly, colouring pencils and toys brought for the children and vodka shots on the house. Being the 'idiots' that we are, we left our SLR camera under the table (with all our holiday photos). Returning the next morning, without a word the waitress walked... More
