We went here on the advice of our hotel staff. The ambience is old time, funky - with a number of small low ceilinged rooms. But while the food was fine, my husband's dish came so cool that we had to ask for it to be warmed up. The wine was ok, and the beer unremarkable. It was expensive for... More

We had a very nice, lively dinner at The Idiot. The service was quick and friendly, the meals were delicious, especially the soips and the salads. Although advertised as a vegetarian restaurant, there are some diages for meat lovers too. We recommend it for a visit.

Recommended by my tour guide for authentic Russian food and drinks. Complimentary shots of vodka! Had beet soup and spicy beef entree. Warm apple for dessert!

Just kitty-corner from the excellent Domina Prestige Hotel, this friendly old-style restaurant offers an extensive menu including several veggie items which were very tasty. I visited on my birthday and they gave us complementary shots of vodka (salut!) and a bottle of bubbly! Also, a great place to buy souvenir T-shirts: they have Idiot T's available in Russian and English.

What a lovely atmosphere! The decor feels like someone's home (made me think of my grandma :) This place is excellent if you are a vegetarian! Lots to choose from on the menu. We had: Starter - the cheese envelope (amazing!!!!) - scallops and shrimp (lovely if you add the lemon and some salt&pepper - if not; a bit bland)... More

This signature restaurant is quite close to Cathedral, on the bank of Moika River, diagonally opposite Dorina Prestige Hotel. The Idiot call themselves vegetarian restaurant for they have more vegetarian delicacies but limited number of very good meat and fish preparation. We were pleasantly surprised at prompt service, complimentary vodka and a classy waiting area. Food is good and reasonably... More

Just down the road from Dom, this is a more traditional Russian restaurant and the decor is quaint, yet comfortable and very welcoming. The food pretty good, though we were so long on our starters our "fish pie" was somewhat overcooked and rather dry. The wine list was reasonably priced (cf Dom!). We highly recommend it.

We found this place by reading reviews and were pleasantly surprised. It is unassuming from the exterior and we thought it was closed! When you walk in and step down into the underground cafe, it looks like a re-vamped bunker! There were old pictures, retro lounges, odd seating sets, old lamps and cute curtains. The staff were friendly despite the... More

Nice, long menu. My potato pie was tasty, but nothing too special. Our waitress spoke English very well!
