Wanted to find a restaurant with good vegetarian options while visiting St. Petersburg with my daughters, and am glad I found The Idiot. Good food (meatless an meat dishes), vodka shot on the house to start the evening. Very kind service from everyone, with English spoken. Cosy atmosphere with a warren of rooms. Beautiful ambience canal side with an enchanting... More

This place was recommended by our friends and we visited this twice during our stay in St Petersburg March 19-23. Nice and cosy atmosphere, friendly service and good food. We liked pancakes with caviar, pelmenis, hotpot, dessert. Vodka was served in frosty classes. Super experience!

After we visited the Moika Palace (Yusupov palace) we went this restaurant to have lunch. This was one of Dostojevskis favourite bars. At the beginning waiter brought us a vodka shots, they were on the house. Then we had some bread and our dishes. We wanted to have something traditional and the waiter was really helpful by suggesting some of... More

I stumbled upon this restaurant my first day in St. Petersburg and ended up eating there 3 times in 2 days. Me and my 4 friends all loved this place. The food was wonderful and the menu diverse. Especially enjoyed the creative teas.

We decided to try this restaurant due to recommendations that we'd seen but when we called in to try to make a booking, we were completely ignored by the staff for a considerable time and then we managed to get someone to acknowledge our presence, they were rude and completely disinterested. The food may be good but we never got... More

Booked The Idiot in the afternoon for dinner that evening. A series of interconnecting rooms, decorated in traditional, antique-style. Very pleasant service and good food. We both wanted to try Russian dishes - the borsch soup was excellent and full of flavour but the pelmeni (dumplings) were a little disappointing and lacking in flavour. Finished off with wonderful pancakes.

I had a great dinner here after stumbling across this restaurant. The place itself is very cosy inside and it feels like something from a different time. The food was very nice and there was lots of selection on the menu. We also got a complementary shot of vodka with our dinner. The staff were really friendly too.

Really friendly service and fantastic food especially for vegetarians... Didn't expect to eat so well in Russia ... Lots of choice and yummy food. Was very quiet but it is winter but still felt cozy
