Traditional and Interesting Russian Cuisine

While I'm certain the Chicken Kiev and Beef Strogonoff are absolutely delicious, I wanted to enjoy something unusual that I would not be able to get anywhere else but in Russia. Russkaya Ryumochnaya No.1 (Russian Vodka Room #1) is the place for adventurous foodies to enjoy a fine meal. I started... read more

If you want to try genuine Russian cuisine and get great service it is the place to go! Wide selection of national dishes cooked as it should be done, served as it should be served, fresh and delicious! The place is designed in a manner of traditinoal russian restaurants of Dostoyevsky time with mature waiters dressed like they used to... More

When got that restaurant recommended by our guide from the Hermitage. Not quite our kind of restaurant really, next to the vodka museum. It's 100% made for tourist ( we didn't see a local apart from guides and it was friday night, so it's telling!) and prices follow that trend. That said, food is good though not amazing, waiter are... What a great restaurant this is. Really fabulous food and a lovely warm welcome by staff. Visited with friends and all our meals were delightful. Would highly recommend the Borscht (Beetroot Soup) for a starter with the Black Bread this was yummy. And for Main Course try the Stroganoff served with mash potato, really really good.

What a great time we had. Very good food, great vodka, good service, great atmosphere, great experience. We did it all here. A little more pricey, but reasonable for the ambiance. Great Russian food and drinks. I'd go back if we were here longer.

Tourist restaurant with very friendly staff & good service. We went as part of a large, organized tour group. Seems to cater to tourists. Great location. Lots of food & drink. Loved the atmosphere. No idea on cost.

A pleasant walk passed St Isaac's Cathedral led us to this charming restaurant. We were quickly seated in one of the two dining rooms and our charming waiter quickly introduced us to a preprandial vodka. The place is obviously very popular with the locals as we were the only foreigners there. This suggested that things were good here and that... More

Lovely atmosphere with a traditional décor. We were three and went late after the opera at the Mariinsky. There wasn't time for a full meal, so we restricted ourselves to vodka, caviar and traditional vodka pickles etc. The singers were starting to pack up which was a shame as they added hugely to the atmosphere. I suspect that the food... More

I was here with a big group of people, and we ordered lots of food. We had dumplings (pelmeni), buckwheat, borsht, beef stroganoff, chicken Kiev, lots of great snacks (zakuski). All the food was great! My tourists were really impressed. We loved the way the food was served. For example, our tea was served with different sweets made at the... More
