A surprise in St Petersburg

We walked to Krokodil from our hotel. We had no idea what to expect, and first impressions were not too encouraging: we had left the floodlit heart of the city behind and come across an unimposing entrance with a green metal door opening on to the pavement. Inside, however, we found warmth and... read more

We popped in here on route to Issac's Cathedral. It is cosy and relaxed. My husband had the picked cabbage soup and I had an aubergine stuffed with mushrooms. We both enjoyed our meals and the service was good.

That is a wonderful place examined by years of visiting it. From outside it looks like some ground floor low quality bar, inside it has Indonesian design with rattan chairs and metal industrial decoration. But let you not be misled by that interior, actually they serve hear common European and Mediterranean cuisine, also Russian dishes are available. The place is... More

We were 7 people thinking we had a reservation through our hotel, but no.... However, the nice lady in charge made sure we got a nice table and excellent service throughout the evening. The food was top class, as well as the Russian champagne we had as aperitif and the wines and beers to the food. Highly recommendable place, a... More

Sorry to be so late with this but was reminded of it whilst reviewing photographs of our visit late last year - 2013, It was a generally great experience, a little quirkey with having to ring the bell on the table to indicate "choice made" but great food and beer. We loved it and will return some day !!

This is not a typical Russian restaurant, but it feels very cosy. The food is great, although a bit on the pricey side. I absolutely loved the fish soup! The waitress that served us was a bit sour, while her colleague was very friendly and smiling.

I had dinner there three times, while I was staying in a nearby hotel. I was never disappointed by my choice - the food was very good and the staff friendly. The last evening there I was joined by several colleagues and we all had a wonderful dinner. If you are a soup fan, you should really try their soups!

I was really dissapointed after all the good reviews. I admit it was a Sunday night when we went but there was no atmosphere here, my beer was flat and not cold and the food was average, so it all just felt a little expensive for what we got.

I came in here before going to the Marinsky Theatre a few years ago. Was not disappointed. Food was exceptional, and great value for money. Only issue was that they fed me too well, and I subsequently spent the 3 hours in the opera in some discomfort, though that could have been due to the intensity of the opera itself,... More

Small, intimate, cool and interesting. Food and service was first class and by far the cheapest meal I had whilst in St Petersburg. I had a wonderful pork dish that was spiced so interestingly. Would love to be able to have it again. This is also a great place just to go for a drink. Superb location near St Isaacs
