Description: Moscow's First Scandinavian Restaurant Scandinavia restaurant opened its...
Moscow's First Scandinavian Restaurant Scandinavia restaurant opened its doors in 1995 just a stone through away from the city center next to Tverskaya metro station. Long before Scandinavian cuisine turned into a hot trend worldwide, we treated our guests to such mysterious dishes as gravlax and skagen. Both are still on the menu. For many years our goal was to introduce Moscow and its spoiled restaurant goers to finest culinary inventions Scandinavian countries have to offer. Scandinavia restaurant is famous for classic Nordic dishes as well as modern Scandic cuisine with a little Swedish accent. Our restaurant was the first one to bring to Moscow legendary Swedish meatballs with cowberry jam, rist to open a summer caf? and first to serve burgers! Not to mention that we made Muscowites fell in love with herring, aquavit and Swedish Christmas table. Located in the city center, famous Pushkinskaya Ploschad is only 50 meters away, with creative food made following finest European quality standards, English-speaking staff and friendly atmosphere, Scandinavia is a great solution for a business lunch, presentation, business meeting of any level and a celebratory dinner, as well as romantic supper or a party with colleagues.

we have been going there for 15 ears or so. This summer visited this place after having been away from Moscow for 4 years.. The summer terrace is still the best place in town. Would recommend for anything - business meeting, date, family lunch - the quality is consistent and the place still rocks despite all sanctions. The burgers and... More

There are not that many places in Moscow where it is safe to eat fish but this Scandinavian owned restaurant for sure is and they know how to make fish taste excellent. Food, wine list and service is really good, so this is a a safe, classic choice.

One of the few open terraces in Moscow we visited regulary for years without any regards to the weather. Especially in summer when one wants to find a hideway from heath, dust and noise accompanied with a glass of wine. Although very little changes happend over the past few years, drinks and food are still the same, simple but good... More

Good afternoon! Thank you for your feedback. This year summer in Moscow was not sunny, so the terrace can be a little dark. But such an open balcony in the restaurant you can always enjoy the sunlight. Welcome! More

One of Moscow's most well know expat restaurants with totally consistent quality and service over the last 20 years. Haven't been here for a while but my wife and I enjoyed a lovely fillet steak flambé with a bottle of Cotes du Rhone as one of the specials. It was simply perfect. Service great. Restaurant great and 5 mins walk... More

Scandinavia is one of my favorites in Moscow. The food is great. Plain, simple and delicious. The service is good and the atmosphere is refined but casual. Seems like I've been eating here for 20 years, and the restaurant is always a pleasure to visit. Not cheap, but fairly priced for Moscow. I recommend the bleak roe (only place in... More

as an expat in moscow, i've been going to scandanavia for over a decade. it's been trending down for a while, but a lunch this afternoon was dreadful. my wife's salmon fillet was was old and terribly over-salted, while my hamburger (once a signature dish) had greyish meat of no taste. maybe the sanctions have hit their lines of supply.... The place is close to Pushkin sq. The location is great: 1 minute from the noisy Tverskaya Street in a quiet lane. The place has a yard (with many small simple tables and a bar), an in-side restaurant, a small open terrace and a bigger under-the-roof terraces upstairs. The service is very good. The prices are reasonable (middle range). The... More

Staying in Patriarch Ponds

Neighborhood Profile
Patriarch Ponds
When you need to hide from the city’s noise and traffic but don’t want to stroll too far, Patriarch Ponds is the place to be. Calm water, friendly swans and ducks with beautiful early 20th century architecture in the background make this neighborhood a place you’ll never want to leave. Besides stylish bars and restaurants scattered in the streets around the pond, you’ll be able to enjoy museum life from modern art to a former private apartment of Mikhail Bulgakov. As most of the businesses are open late, stop for a cocktail and then stroll by the pond to rent a boat and row yourself to the middle of the “bowl” as the locals call it.
