Not just a great interior design

An outstanding interior design and good service are considered as 2 distinguished characteristics for the place, apart from food of course. We have ordered deserts and were treated with welcome drinks as well -- the cocktails were unexpected perfect match for the summer's afternoon!

Restaurant "C.D.L." is located in a historic noble residence built in 1887. One hundred twenty-five years of history of the mansion, it had seen a lot of famous people. From Emperor Alexander III to the Secretary General of the CPSU Central Committee, President of the United States and the modern Russian oligarchs. Beautifully renovated interior. Almost move you in times... More

The recent changes in decor have converted this restaurant from traditional classic elegance to contemporary. The food was average and we experienced service gaps. A shame, as I hear from others that it used to be better. We were there on a weekend evening and most of the restaurant was empty, an indication of that things may not be going... More

This is a great mansion in the center of Moscow, which still have some of it original interiors left - wood-carved eagles, plants, some faces, etc. I went there solely for this (food was not so important to me). It was recently renovated and I'm not very impressed by the mix of styles that you see there now. As for... More

Interior very noble and pleasant. I was here 20 years ago for the first time. Food Russian, very good, perhaps 8 of 10. The place to go for a business dinner, or perhaps with your new girlfriend. I love it.

The food was haute cuisine at it's best. Nicely balanced flavor, textures, and colors. I had the deer and veal pelmeni (Siberian ravioli). They had been cooked in a mushroom broth and at each bite, there was just the right squirt of flavorful mushroom broth. They were in a light, but unmistakably Russian dough. Then I had pigeon with sweetbreads... More

ZDL is an amazing place, located in a former Masonic lodge built in 1889. It has two dining areas that both have large open fires, with the main hall being very impressive (see the pictures others have posted). What we liked most was the very attentive service, something that is rare in Moscow. ZDL is also one of the few... More

Loved this restaurant. The food was delicious and well-prepared. It's modernized traditional Russian cuisine. The service was outstanding, and not only by Moscow standards. I was really impressed how friendly the waitstaff was, especially given that my friends and I were dressed quite casually. Think this is the only restaurant I've been to in Moscow with its own sommelier, too.... More

Staying in Arbat

Neighborhood Profile
Arbat
Crowds of tourists, both local and international take in Old Arbat and its modern and gigantic peer – New Arbat. One reason visitors keep coming is no doubt Konstantin Melnikov’s famous private house, now open to the public and worthy of a visit. After exploring one of the oldest parts of Moscow, avoid the crowds and turn to the side streets and boulevards where calmness and affordable food is plentiful.
