Although everyone wanted us to go to Pushkin Cafe, we were not up to the formality, so we went to Kitezh on the recommendation of the concierge at the National Hotel. She was SO right. The food was Russian and was excellent. The restaurant is in an old building and has a basement which is where we choose to eat.... More

The game at this restaurant was perfectly cooked, better than many places I have been in the UK. The one downside is that, it being mushroom season, ~90% of dishes had mushrooms in. I can't eat them, but eventually working my way down the menu found a very nice dish without them, my husband can eat them but isn't keen... More

Nice summer patio where we tasted for the first time the Beef Stroganoff: we really enjoyed it...probably the best one eaten in our vacation.

Ate here with a couple of colleagues. We sat outside. It wasn't busy but service was good which is a rarity in Russia. We ordered starters and mains and all were very good. Quite a wide selection, we all had different things and they were all good. Reasonably priced for the quality of food and this was easily our best... More

Our hotel recommended this restaurant and we were not dissapointed. Although the prices are a little steep for the locals, they're ok if you can compare them to the US or Europe. The food was exceptionally good and hearty; great selection of beers. Perfect place to eat if you're traveling with children or want to have a romantic dinner.

I visited the restaurant during a business lunch. The choice of three salads, three soups, two hot meals and 3 drinks. Everything is very fresh, well-decorated and quickly served. Price of 350 rubles (11 dollars). For an additional 30 rubles ($ 1) you can order dessert. I recommend this place.

We looked forward to dining in Kitezh and we were not disappointed. We were staying in an apartment on Tverskoy Bul’var, a few minutes walk from Tverskaya metro, so we had a lovely stroll along the boulevard to the restaurant. Set in a stone basement, we were very impressed with the splendid wooden and stone features, some of which we... More

I had a lunch there last weekend, 6 years since I lived in Moscow and ate their last time. Impressed that the food and atmosphere remain consistently good. Often not the case in Moscow where stars lit up and burn very quickly... Its quite atmopheric, but not over the top, actually by Russian standard very simple so you don't get... More

I agree 100% with Fodor's, who claim that if you only have 1 place to eat in Moscow, make it here! Close walk from Red Square, friendly service (in a country where customer service is unbelievably poor...), and fantastic food (-: We drank their house special horseradish vodka, which was very tasty - I definitely recommend it. The herring/beet salad... More
