Fantastic experience

I visited this restaurant during a business trip in 2014. The food is interesting to taste, especially for those interested in molecular gastronomy. The atmosphere is amazing: interior, lights, music, interesting interpretation of traditional cuisine. It's all a joy to the eyes, however, I wouldn't... read more

I visited this restaurant during a business trip in 2014. The food is interesting to taste, especially for those interested in molecular gastronomy. The atmosphere is amazing: interior, lights, music, interesting interpretation of traditional cuisine. It's all a joy to the eyes, however, I wouldn't call it exactly a "spectacle". The offered matching wines were average, a bit overpriced. I... More

Anatoly Komm has created a very special contemporary russian menu. The food is highly inventive. Some of it works very well others not so well, but overall it is a very good experience and definitely the most inventive food in the city.

My husband and I dined at Varvary on our final night in Moscow (having canceled it a few days before while suffering from jet lag and not wanting to ruin our experience here). And what a dinner it was! The restaurant looks like Philip Starcke exploded with Russian madness. Dark crystal, chandeliers, reds, blacks, and whites, very dramatic. Yet on... More

The first time that I was at Varvary Chef Komm served us Haute Cuisine with a capital A. The A from Art. Art... I can't find an other word for his Cuisine and all my guests agreed with me. Varvary stand for an innovative creative interpretation of the traditional Russian cuisine. Last weekend I had the honor to be at... More

The restaurant is located off to the side of the building and wasn't obvious to find. You then take an elevator up to the restaurant. When we arrived, there was no one in the restaurant to greet us - in fact, the restaurant looked mostly empty. After a few minutes of waiting around, a waiter came by from upstairs and... More

Talking about average tourist program in Moscow with number of "the must" places regardless cultural experience and personal taste : Bolshoy theatre and Pushkin restaurant would be on top 5 attractions together with Red square, Kremlin, Tretiakov gallery and a number of Stalin buildings or Churches ( depending on preferences ) I wonder why VARVARY is not ranked as a... After having decided to visit some top class restaurants in Moscow (cafe Pushkin, Turandot) we decided to move on and to visit Komm's Barvary. We decided to go for the 13 course menu, a "gastronomitscheskiy spectacle"; that sounded pretty promising. We dined at several great places like Fischer's Fritze, Margaux, The French Laundry, Commis and so on, so I'd say... More

A trip to Moscow would not be complete without the experience of Varvary. I was promised an experience and I wasn't disappointed- well worth a visit from the UK. The attention to detail even down to the personalised AK cutlery was just wonderful, nothing escaped the perfection of this fabulous restaurant. The front of house staff were friendly and very... We came to this restaurant to experience the cuisine of Anatoli Komm after having read quite a bit about the character. We often go to Michelin star restaurants so that will be my frame of reference. Before going into details let me just say that we were very pleasantly surprised by the innovative take on traditional Russian cuisine but I... More
