Best German food experience!

The Brauhaus in Swakopmund is legendary. I have been hearing about it for years and every person that I spoke to insisted that it was their favourite dinner and hangout spot! I don’t even know where to begin to explain the vibe, I was there for a German inspired engagement party, so the venue... read more

Food looks good but again there was a fog of smoke. A good range of beer but the staff could do to smile.

The food was good, make no mistake, but we had better. We all enjoyed it but then the but again. The seating and atmosphere was excellent. Just the food was not the usual. As we all know if we have a favorite spot in a town, we do get a bit sensitive about it. The service was okay but bit... More

Good brakwurst that would have tasted better had the waitress served it up with a smile. Menu looked good and well priced. Decor steeped in swakopmund history with its strong German influences. Mature crowd.

We only had a pretzel and a few drinks here but it was good to have some good German beer.  We got there just too late for lunch so didn't manage to eat there. We returned for a drink in the evening and it looked fully booked so worth making a reservation if you want a table for dinner.  Our... More

Our table - consisting of 20+ diners - were very well managed and served by our expert waiter - obviously used to serving large groups. A decent range of local and international beers are served in many formats - try the local draught beer in a 2L glass boot! Our table ordered a variety of dishes including the grilled sole,... More

We had a fantastic meal, the service was above average but not the best. We were unfortunate after booking the previous night when they were fully booked to be placed at a table in the doorway with a chilly windy evening. Overall a must do.

The Brauhaus will not overwhelm you with the friendliness of the staff - they are there to work, but the quality of service, food and beer are consistently good. A great atmosphere over weekends and during the holiday season, but less so in quiter times. You can't go wrong if you're looking for a little Bavarian tradition in Africa. I've... More

The restaurant is a little hard to find, tucked away down a pedestrian walkway but the service and food more than make up for that. As the name would suggest, the atmosphere is quite Germanic and the food matches that with ample (read "huge") portions.

Great location and authentic German food. But try the local brew, camelthorn. Give yourself time, this is a busy place and servers struggle to keep up.
