2 small 'faux amis': neither nouvelle cuisine in terms of portion size; very generous indeed. Nor, as seems likely from reviews & photos, remotely pricey; rather good value we thought. Thankfully not as busy as it must get in high season (so then would suggest booking) we enjoyed top class cooking of local, quality products - wine for example coming... More

We selected this restaurant based on TripAdvisor comments. The food and service was incredible and whilst not a budget venue, it was vfm. As we are busting in January, ie low season, the restaurant was quiet, but the entire menu was still available and finishing with coffee and cognacs was nice.

We had a great two course meal at this elegant riad. We ordered the assortiment to share as a starter, which was lovely, then the pastillas of fish and prawn, which were topped with tasty prawns and accompanied by a selection of julienne vegetables. We had the sahari red wine, which we thought was the best we tasted in Morocco.

This is a really good authentic moroccan restuarant we enjoyed the food and the walk through the Souk to reach it worth the effort.

Pumping techno music offsets the purple fairy lif interior of an amazing escape away from it a back alley Riad . The food is the saviour of the day . Though pricey it is exceptional and the personal service from the owner brings warmth to the pro eedings . We where chased by a glue sniffer as we left but... More

We were attracted to this restaurant by its advert in the Essaouira town guide for pre-dinner tapas, after finding the typical tagine or couscous menus becoming a little monotonous. The tapas and accompanying wine were truly delicious and excellent value, so we decided on the spot to return the following evening for dinner. And were delighted. Food, wine, ambiance and... More

After 4,000 tagines I was dead keen to try some more "modern" Moroccan cuisine and thank heavens I finally found it here. Also after not eating any fish while travelling inland I was desperate to try some now I was by the ocean. And my expectations were perfectly satisfied by this delightful place in a beautiful old riad. The food... More

This is set in a lovely riad off a scary back street! When you walk down there you feel like Jack the Ripper is going to jump out but all the back alleys are like that just have to assume they're safe. restaurant was lovely but very quiet so great as recommended for a quiet romantic dinner. Food was lovely... More

We had a lovely meal at Al Farachah, even if it did test our school level French (the waitress spoke no English). The restaurant is one of the many in Morroco that is a hidden gem in an otherwise nondescript alleyway. Luckily the Trip Advidor directions were perfect and it was not hard to find. The decor was perfect; a... More

This time we were there with friends and it was again a very nice experience. We enjoyed the food and the company of the owner who also gave us some very good tips that enhanced the pleasure of our stay in Essaouira. Regrettably we were the only guests and therefore the atmosphere was a little bit sad.
